The hours they had spent in the library had seemed like minutes compared to the time they would spend in the ballroom. Dancing together like their lives depended on it. Even though, in reality, it did not, they felt as if they danced enough they would soon be able to dance every step sequence there was in the world.

That was at least their intention if anyone would like to ask them. In reality, they just really liked dancing together. After all, the twins were in love with the idea of silent communication. Be it from just the eyes, or face, to that of a dance. Always looking for a new and exciting way to tell each other something without the guards hearing, or that of the gossiping maids. Especially since of the recent uprising within the kingdom.

It had come recently to the ears of the twins that of the uproar the kingdom is having for the fact that they look nothing like the Nydelirienian King or Queen. In fact, in truth only the king's blood was that of the prince and only the queen's blood flowed through the princess. 'How?' You may ask. Well, prince Kiyoshi had been the bastard son of an Aralithielian lady in waiting that had been a gift to the queen. As for the princess, she was the daughter of a Lord from the Aralithiel empire and the queen as he was traveling on royal court affairs. The strangest fact being that both the queen and her lady in waiting had given birth within the same hour. Therefore the birth of the twins. Causing quite the uproar to the people of Nydelirien, for they wanted only the purest of blood for their future rulers.

Though, none of that would bother them now as they danced around in the otherwise empty ballroom as a clock toward boomed the sound of the five chimes of the hour. Both seemed to be smiling to those who would only pass by, but if one looked closer they had obviously glaring at each other as if daring the other to stop. Completely unaware of the butler that had managed to slip into the room. Waiting patiently for them to end their dance.

Though, impatient as the man was, he would loudly clear his voice as if to get the attention of the two. Snapping them both out of their quickstep to turn to the man. Kaiya easily slips to her brother's side as his arm would wrap around her waist protectively. The glare instantly turns to the man before it would soften to a soft smile from the princess, yet the prince would only continue to glare. Clearly not happy for the interruption of the two's argument.

"My apologizes your highnesses, but the king requires your presence in the clock tower." The butler would say to them both as he would bow politely to them. Raising from it to only find the two staring at him in complete shock. Filling the poor man with dread for the fact they gave him such a gaze that could literally scare any person into fearing any sort of attention. Though, neither aware of the wariness that grew over the man as they tried to process the fact that the king had wished to speak to them on probably his own volition.

Clearing his own voice this time, the prince would look to his sister with such a look that could freeze a person to their roots. A look that the princess had returned to him as they went off into their own private discussion once again. Fear hidden behind their eyes as they would try to figure out if they were to go or not seeing that whatever the king was to say would somehow end with their lives. Seeing the fact that they have known for a fact as children the king would try to murder them before people could have known of their lives. All attempts ending with another guard’s downfall. Still, somewhere inside them they secretly known that the king has since ended his ways of trying to murder them since their coming of age where he has then tried to marry the two off to suitable suitors. Of course, none had gone through the marriage because they could never get the chance to talk to one of the twins alone.

“Your highnesses… Please pardon my rudeness, but the king told me that he wanted you within the minute of calling upon you. He had said, ‘It was of the utmost importance he had to speak with you both.’” The butler would yet again interrupt them despite his fear of the prince’s temper for the last person who had interrupted their private discussions.

“Huh?” Kaiya would say as she snapped her head forward to face the butler. Her face was that of something you could say of confusion, though most of it was hardly readable. “Oh… Okay. Please, do inform him that we are on our way. Kiyoshi and I will be there in a moment.” Her voice was gentle and sweet unlike the emotions she had been feeling right then and there from the simple fact that her ‘father’ wished to speak with her.

Bowing out of duty and respect, the poor butler would smile politely to the princess and nodded to the prince before running away like a mouse that was trying not to get trapped from their dead gaze. Such a gaze that hid the fact they had been speaking to each other with only their eyes. Dark brown eyes that never left each other until the princess would push herself away from the prince’s grasp as she would begin to pace. Sighing as she placed a hand to her forehead as if to settle all uneasy thoughts that swarmed in her head. Whereas the prince would only stand there with a defeated look on his face.

“Kaiya… No. Please do not think of me like that. You know fully why I distaste that man. After all he has tried to KILL US before. How do we not know this yet another attempt. Or even better, a way to split us apart? He knows that each of us would be lost without the other even if we do not share the same blood as the other!” Kiyoshi would yell at her. The temper is surely getting to him.

Still, none of it had scared her more than his words of possibly losing him. “I know! But it still does not give you the right to take it out on innocent people! They hate us for our parent’s mistakes of adultery!” Kaiya would yell at him as she stopped in her tracks of pacing to stare daggers at him. Knowing all too well that he would always give into her voice of reason. With these two, she was yang and he was the ying. They just simply could not live without the other.

After what seemed like an eternity, the king himself stormed into the ballroom without even announcing himself and even finding himself to regret it as he took notice as to what he had walked in on. His face instantly paled in shock of seeing the two arguing at each other. A sight the king himself has never in the course of history to witness, but alway hear about.

“Fine! But I-'' The prince would say after a while before sighing. Lifting his hands to his temples as he would try to message them. As poor Kaiya had turned to look startling at the king. Her big brown eyes widened into saucers as she would stare at him in complete and utter shock. Her voice stuck in her throat to even warn her brother who seemed to be mutting curses under his breath.

“Well… I was going to ask what had been taking so long. But, I think I know why now and what the talk is all about when the staff say that you do not want to be anywhere around you two when you are arguing.” The man would try to lighten the mood a little to help ease up some of the suffocating tension.

Bewildered by the fact that the man had enough nerve to just come fetch them himself, Kiyoshi would snap around to glare at the king with enough force it was shocking not to find the rather robust man in a puddle on the floor. Finally causing the princess to shake herself out of the shock she was in so that she could go to her brother to calm him down before he could do anything too rash, like killing the king.

The man would only roll his head back in laughter. “I swear everyday Kiyoshi becomes more Nydelirienian whereas the queen’s bastard daughter becomes like those all too polite Aralithielians!” He would say none to smartly as he would begin to double over in laughter, occasionally even slapping his knee. Only making it harder on the princess as she would try to hold her brother back from pounding the old man into pieces. Trying with all her might to hold onto his balled up fist and from advancing even further towards the laughing king who was completely unaware of his slowly advancing son.

Not able to take it any longer, Kaiya would step back from the two as she would cover her hands over her ears and scream as loud as she could to get them both to stop. Which had brought more attention to the girl then she could have ever imagined to have, let alone like to have. The two would instantly snap out of their fits and look at her completely dumbfounded by her actions. Even the king who looked up to the girl, seeing much of his late wife in her. Whereas the prince would look at her like she had lost her head, seeing this entire new way of trying to get his attention.

“K-kaiya?” He would say as if they name had been completely foreign to him after the entire scene as a few dozen guards would file into the room only to turn right back around seeing that the remaining royal family had been alright and partially because they did not want anything to do with the family drama that was about to go down.

“Enough! The both of you! Why can you two get over yourselves? Yeah, I know I get it. You hate Kiyoshi and I because you hate the fact you were caught doing something wrong and my mother cheated on you at the same time as you did. But, that does not mean you have the right to kill us, let alone take out all of your self directed anger on us!” She would scold the king before turning her dagger-like eyes to her ‘twin’ brother. “As for you! I know what he has done to us in the past was wrong, but you need to focus on a lot more important things like the fact that both of our lives are at risk since the entirety of Nydelirien hates us because of something that was completely out of our control!”

Both men would stand up straight, glancing at each other as if silently asking each other if what they had seen was entirely happening or not. Entirely not sure if they should speak or not, both would bow their heads in shame as they would slowly process what the girl had said. The king's eyes slowly begin to swell up with tears as he begins to realize all that he has done them wrong. Wondering where he had actually done something right in raising his daughter and son to only think that the only thing he has done was not dampen their mind with his own ignorant ways.

Instantly becoming tired from screaming, Kaiya would look between her father and brother before slowly walking over to her brother. Wanting someone to hold her close before she got the chance to fall. Realizing her intentions as she moved closer to him, Kiyoshi would instantly pull her close and hold onto her with everything he got before looking at the man that was crying nearby before glancing up to the chandelier that hung above their heads. “We were told that you wished to speak with us… what is it that you wanted to speak with us about?” For once, the prince’s voice had been calm and his eyes were gentle as he would try to keep himself from stressing out Kaiya any more.

Glancing over to the prince, the King would start to nod his head. Wiping away any tears that might have managed to escape his eyes. “Yes, yes… I did.” His voice would try to keep from shaking, trying to hide the fact that he was crying at all. Let alone from the fact that his bastard children had been the ones to begin the change of heart. Pulling out two pink envelopes from his back pocket as he would begin to speak as Kiyoshi would take them wordlessly from him. “I wanted to give these to you before you guys left… Read it and I am sure you will understand what it is-” Before he could say anymore, the king’s voice had been drowned out by the sound of the clock tower as it started to chime five, no, six times saying that it was six o'clock.

All froze like statues before turning to the grandfather clock in the ballroom as it would clearly state to the rest of the room that it was only 4:45 as did the rest of the clocks that stood proudly around the room. Stating the obvious fact that the clock tower had gone off two hours and 15 minutes before it was time to.

Before they could ask any questions the deafening sound of a snapping rope filled the room as the silent sound of the chandelier started to descend downwards onto the prince and princess. It was all in slow motion. The prince and princess stood rooted to their places as they watched the thing fall towards them as the king would dive towards them. Pushing them out of the way just in time to get out from underneath the thousand ton illuminator as it would start to crash down where they just had been. The princess would turn to look at the king as he would instantly become stuck under the golden fixture, killing him just as quickly as it happened. Shattering the princess’s ankle and foot as it was just barely caught in the accident. The only sound filling the room was that of the girl’s screams of pain of heartbreak of watching her father die saving their life and shattered appendage. Sobbing as men would file into the room once more to see the king squashed under the Chandelier and the prince and princess lying nearby with her foot still stuck under the thing along with the late king. The prince’s arms wrapped around her to keep her still as possible so that she would not do anymore damage then that has happened to her foot as he would begin to bark orders to lift the thing off of them, her and the king.

That was all that the princess could remember before she had fainted from the overwhelming shock of reality that was their life.
