The Righteous and the Forgotten

Brothers reunited

I walk a cold snowy path, my breath visible as I exhale, looking above I see a beautiful star filled night sky.

It has been a long time since i have seen the sky so i stand there for several moments taking it in procrastinating my arrival to my once family. I watch as snowflakes start to fall and land on my red skin, melting on contact. The sensation startled me and I stepped back causing my hood to fall revealing my devilish face with horns wrapping around my head and my long hair braided down my back.

I can't help but let out a chuckle as I bend over to scoop up more of the snow, launching it into the air like a child, the cold sensation running up my hands.

I hear my step sister chuckle beside me.

“Come on Juda, I know you haven't been to this plane since Father rescued you when you were a child but it doesn't mean you can act like a child again” She jokingly said looking at him with a half smile her teeth pointed.

“You have to learn to live and enjoy things, Kara,” I say back to her. “But you're right, let's move on. We have a long way to go before we reach the Village.”

I join her and we trek down the road to any passerby they would surely flee in terror looking at the both of us as we look like devils which we sort of are.

Kara is the true devil, her horns are bigger, more elegant, her skin paler more pink then my red, she has a tail i do not she has fangs i do not, and that's because i am adopted. I was and still am to an extent the son of an angel that was corrupted and cursed by a witch.

Luckily my new father, a powerful devil found me and saved me, raising me in hell which enhanced my cursed body even more.

Now things have gotten a bit hectic at home so to keep us safe father sent us to the mortal plane specifically sending me back home.

As we walked I began thinking of all the bad things that had happened to me there and pain flashed across my face but Kara grabbed my hand squeezing it letting me know that she was there for me.

“So do you think Father was right? That the village will welcome you back? That the winged chicken will welcome his son back?” Kara asked, trying to get me to think of something other than the memories of what that witch did to me.

“I'm not sure I never knew the bastard my mother handed me over to the witch before he ever saw me. All i know is what i read of angels and that they seek good in all but have a habit of smiting and asking questions later.` I answer in a sour tone.

“Great if I die Juda I'm killing you.” Kara jests.

“Hey what's that?” Kara suddenly points down the road at a wagon spilled onto its side with two figures standing beside it.

“I'm not sure it looks like they need help, let's go see but keep your weapon ready. I don't want to be gutted by a scared farmer that'd be humiliating.” I laugh as I speed up to a brisk pace.

As i approach the wagon the figures become clearer it's an older man dressed in furs and a man around my age dressed in gleaming armor and fine furs to keep warm, his skin seemed to almost glow with radiant light under his skin and he was much more handsome then a mortal usually is, it's obvious that the armored one was trying to help the older man but looking at his face he seemed arrogant and my immediate reaction to him was dislike.

As I approached I called out startling them as they turned around from the wagon.

“Hello friends, are you in need of help? Me and my sister can assist you, do not be afraid of our appearance.`` I called out in a soothing tone hoping to avoid a fight. It seemed however that the Knight had other ideas as he quickly drew his sword causing Kara to draw her daggers and things only escalated from there as the knight charged at us yelling

“Foul Demons by Kynars blood I shall smite you back to the pits you evil creatures.” I definitely didn't like this guy.

“Alright kara don't kill him please” i whispered to her as she whispered “No promises”

Kara ran at him her tail lashing behind her and right before they made contact she jumped and flipped over him grabbing his armor from behind and yanking pulling him off balance, to his credit however before she could get the dagger around his throat he parried the blade and broke free and with a flurry of blows put Kara on the defensive he was extremely skilled but i knew Kara could handle him so i slowly crept over to the old man as they fought.

The man seemed unnerved but did not try to run, instead clutched a holy symbol in his hands as he stared at me. I sighed. I hated that look, telling me i don't belong that i'm a monster but i don't blame them i look the part. I looked at the wagon and inspected it. It seemed that the wheel had broken.

I asked the man if he wanted me to repair it as I have magic and can do it in seconds mending the wood together. He didn't answer me but nodded watching me whisper some words in the old language seeing the wood mend back together as if it was never broken. I nodded to him and bowed. I noticed a slight change in his stance as he muttered thank you releasing the holy symbol before climbing back in the wagon and leaving.

I turned back to the fighting to see Kara smiling as she infuriated the knight more and more with her dodges and flips.

“Kara lets go we can be on our way” i called to her watching her kick snow up into his face distracting him so she could jump away back to my side and we started walking away hearing him yelling that we get back and fight him that we were nothing but evil incarnate my blood boiled at his insults and i turned back around to retort but when i did i felt a warm burst of radiant energy the knight was hovering with golden wings of light sprouting from his back as her flew at Kara yelling bringing his sword down.

“I am Elijah, Son of Kynar the Angel, and I will purge evil from this land!” he shouted as he barred down on Kara but before he could strike her with his radiant sword i pushed her out of the way and the sword pierced my chest i grabbed him and pulled Elijah closer my eyes turning black.

“My name is Juda Evermoor and you are an Ignorant fool '' I hissed into his face. “You call me evil? Why? You attacked me because of what i looked like, you would strike an opponent who had their back turned, i wanted to help but you are blinded by ignorance your the evil one go smite yourself!” I shout as my rage consumes me, blasting him back with a dark wave. Leaving the sword embedded in my chest as he launches into the snow i pull it from my chest and drop it hearing the beats of wings i look up to see the form of an angel his skin looks like ivory and his hair are locks of gold

“Hey Father, long time no see i met my brother got to say i don't think i like him.” I chuckle, spitting out blood as my vision goes to black.
