In death, life has as much meaning or meaninglessness as the warrior makes of it.

Ulf slumped against the log, his breathing ragged and blood pouring from his side. A raven landed by his shoulder and cocked its head questioningly.

“Little raven, are you here to take to Valhalla?” Ulf asked.

“We are to go to the kingdom of heaven, friend,” replied the Raven, it’s beak unmoving.

“So the Christian were right? Will my daughter be there?”

“The Kingdom of Heaven is open to all.”

Ulf close his eyes and fell to the side.

On the side of the log, Eardwulf smiled before he let out a long breath, his chin falling to his chest.
