The Portal of Destiny

Jacob's Journey Beyond

By DANIEL KADIRPublished 3 years ago • 3 min read

Jacob's heart pounded with a mix of anticipation and trepidation as he watched the moving truck pull up to their new home in the countryside. The house stood tall, surrounded by vast green fields and a sense of tranquility that seemed to seep into every inch of the property. But the serenity of the place couldn't drown out the melancholy that filled Jacob's young heart, for he had recently lost his beloved mother.

His father, Kelvin, had decided that a fresh start in the countryside would be good for both of them. Jacob hoped that the change would bring some happiness back into their lives, even if it couldn't fill the void left by his mother's absence.

As they unpacked, Jacob's eyes wandered to the cellar door nestled in a corner of the basement. Its presence intrigued him, and he couldn't resist the urge to investigate. With each step descending the creaky wooden stairs, a shiver of excitement ran down his spine.

The door groaned as Jacob pulled it open, revealing a narrow passage leading into darkness. Hesitant yet curious, he mustered up the courage to venture forward. With each step, the air grew colder, and a faint glow emanated from the end of the corridor. The sound of his own heartbeat was the only company he had.

As Jacob emerged from the passage, he found himself in a breathtaking world unlike anything he had ever seen. Lush, vibrant landscapes stretched before him, alive with colors he had never imagined. Glittering streams wound through meadows adorned with flowers of every hue, while majestic creatures roamed freely, their forms a hybrid of familiar animals and fantastical beings.

In awe, Jacob ventured deeper into this mysterious realm. He encountered gentle forest spirits, mischievous talking animals, and wise old sages who shared their wisdom. They spoke of a prophecy—a tale of a young boy who possessed the power to restore balance to their world, a power Jacob hadn't yet realized he possessed.

Embracing his newfound destiny, Jacob trained diligently under the guidance of the creatures he had met. Days turned into weeks, and weeks into months. Jacob's bond with this extraordinary world grew stronger, and he discovered that his connection with it had a reciprocal effect. The once-heavy weight of grief began to lift from his heart, replaced by a sense of purpose and belonging.

However, unbeknownst to Jacob, a malevolent force had become aware of his existence. A darkness that sought to exploit his power and unleash chaos upon both worlds. It was a treacherous sorcerer, banished long ago for his wicked ways, who now saw Jacob as the key to his triumphant return.

One fateful day, as Jacob prepared for the final stage of his training, the sorcerer launched his attack. Dark clouds blotted out the sun, and the once-beautiful world trembled under the sorcerer's maleficent magic. Jacob's friends rallied to defend their realm, and together, they confronted the sorcerer in an epic battle.

As the struggle reached its climax, Jacob tapped into his hidden potential, unleashing a torrent of light that engulfed the sorcerer, vanquishing him once and for all. The darkness receded, and the world began to heal.

Having fulfilled his destiny, Jacob bid farewell to the enchanted realm and returned to the basement of his house. As he closed the cellar door behind him, the memories of his adventures remained etched in his heart. He emerged into the present, forever changed by the experiences that had shaped him.

Jacob's father, Kelvin, was waiting for him, unaware of the incredible journey his young son had undertaken. Jacob hugged him tightly, feeling a renewed sense of love and gratitude. As they stood there, looking out at the countryside, Jacob
