Other than the rustling of leaves and some bird song, the cabin is quiet. Katie is glaring down at the countertop through her fingers. Both men stand, backs against opposite walls.
“Micah…” Carson says my name quiet, concern dripping from his tone.
He’s watching me, eyes soft and arms crossed and pursed lips.
“Carson, this is the only way,” I reach out to touch both of them lightly and meet air under my right hand when Katie pulls away. “You know this is the only way, guys.”
