The Night We Embraced Sadness

By M. Fauzan AjiPublished 2 months ago 2 min read

Once upon a time, in a sleepy little town nestled between hills and forests, there was a night unlike any other. It wasn't the kind of night where stars twinkled cheerfully or the moon smiled down warmly. No, this night wore a cloak of sadness, draped over the sky like a heavy blanket.

The air was heavy with the scent of rain, though no drops fell from the sky. Instead, it seemed as though the clouds themselves were weighed down by the burdens of the world, refusing to shed their tears.

In the heart of this melancholic night was a young woman named Lily. She sat by her window, gazing out into the darkness with a heaviness in her heart that matched the somber mood of the night. She couldn't quite put her finger on why she felt so down, but it seemed as though the sadness had seeped into her bones, making it impossible to shake off.

As she sat there, lost in her thoughts, there came a soft knock at her door. Startled, Lily rose from her seat and made her way to answer it. Standing on her doorstep was her friend, Max, his usually cheerful face mirroring the same sorrow that hung in the air.

"Hey," he said softly, his voice barely above a whisper. "Mind if I come in?"

Lily shook her head, stepping aside to let him enter. They didn't exchange any words as they settled into silence, each lost in their own thoughts yet finding solace in each other's company.

They sat there for what felt like hours, the only sound filling the room being the occasional sniffle or sigh. But amidst the quiet sadness, there was a strange sense of comfort in knowing they weren't alone in their melancholy.

Eventually, as the night wore on and the darkness outside began to give way to the first light of dawn, Lily and Max found themselves embracing, a silent understanding passing between them. They knew that not every night would be like this one, heavy with sadness and uncertainty. But for now, they were content to lean on each other and weather the storm together.

And as the sun rose on a new day, casting its gentle glow upon the world once more, Lily and Max found a glimmer of hope amidst the darkness, knowing that even in the depths of night, there was light to be found in the embrace of friendship.
