At the stroke of midnights arrival the ancient train screeched to a halt, at the station with its headlights piercing through the night air without a soul in sight aware of its origin or noticing its arrival; yet unfailingly every night, at the exact hour of 12 a.m. it stood there—ready and waiting.

Leila stood on the platform with her heart beating in her chest. The note she discovered on her doorstep that day was straightforward; Take the midnight train if you seek clarity.

She pondered over what she sought answers, for. The enigma of her brothers disappearance or the eerie dreams that had plagued her ever since he went missing?. Unsure of the specifics but feeling an urge nudging her towards seeking resolution; she sensed this to be her opportunity.

She sighed and entered the train, the doors shut by invisible hands. Their seats were empty inside and as the air was filled with an ominous aura. The train juddered into life and the lights flickered, amidst a blur of faces in the darkness — faces I hadn't seen for years.

And then she saw him. Her brother, his eyes wide in horror as he stands far away end of the carriage.

"Leila. ”You… uhhh, you never should have come,” he chuckled.

But it was too late. The train was dropping into darkness and there was nothing to do.
