The silence was deafening, there was nothing more to be said.

His time with this company had ended.

Dumbfounded, he rose, turned, and left. Closing the door behind him quietly.

He felt, more than noticed, all the eyes looking at him.

Eyes that held concern, eyes that smirked, worried eyes that wondered, “would they be next?”

Security had now joined him in what was his office. Observing with little interest, what he was putting in a box. Forty years worth in one small box.

Leaving, he did not look back.

The noise of the office returned, though muted slightly.
