The sun was bright outside, and birds were singing. Malice woke up, feeling weak and disoriented. It took her a few moments before she could remember what had happened. She had been in a car accident, and now she was recovering in a hospital. She sighed and tried to sit up. That was when she saw him - the man in the corner of her room. He was tall, with dark hair and piercing blue eyes. He wore a suit, as if he had just come from a business meeting, but Malice could tell that he didn't belong there. He wasn't a doctor or a nurse. He wasn't even a visitor. He was a stranger, and yet, he was always present, staring, judging, and seemingly waiting for something. malice was scared, so she screamed. Nurses came into her room and tried to calm her down, but when they asked her what was wrong, she couldn't tell them. They assumed that she was suffering from trauma from the accident, so they gave her a sedative and left her alone. That was the first time she saw the man, but it wouldn't be the last. As she recovered, he would appear more and more frequently. He would stand in the shadows, always watching her, always judging her. Malice felt like she was going mad. But the more she saw the man, the more she began to notice something else. Whenever he was around, things would happen - bad things. A nurse would get into an argument with a patient, a visitor would get into a car accident, a cleaner would spill something, and Alice would notice that the man in the corner was always present. Malice became convinced that the man was behind all these negative incidents and that he was evil. But whenever she would try to tell someone, they would tell her that it was just her imagination, and she should stop talking about it. Malice's mom came to visit her in the hospital one day, and Malice finally decided to tell her about the man. At first, Malice's mom tried to comfort her, but then she saw the fear in her daughter's eyes, and her expression changed. "Malice, listen to me," she said in a hushed tone. "I've seen the man before, too. He's not just in your head. There's something about him that's not right." Malice was shocked. She had always thought that her mom would dismiss her like everyone else had. She asked, "What do you mean? How did you see him?" "I mean that I've seen him in dreams," Malice's mom explained. "And I've always felt like he was a bad omen. Like he brought with him bad luck or worse. But, Malice, please don’t tell anyone about it!” Malice was confused. She didn't understand why they couldn't tell anyone, especially the doctors. Her mom explained that it would only make things worse. If they told the doctors, they might think that Malice was suffering from a hallucination and give her more sedatives. Malice's mom promised to help her figure out what was really going on and how to deal with it. Malice was discharged from the hospital a few days later, but the man in the corner continued to follow her. Everywhere she went, she could feel his presence. She was scared to leave her room or go outside, but she knew that she couldn't let him continue to cause harm. One day, she decided to follow him. She waited until he appeared and then followed him, keeping her distance. He led her to an alleyway, where a group of teenagers were hanging out. They were smoking, drinking, and laughing, but Malice could sense that they were dangerous. She watched as the man in the corner whispered something to one of the teenagers, who then took out a knife and threatened another boy. Malice knew that she had to do something. She called the police and reported what was happening. The teenagers were arrested, and Malice felt like she had finally done something right. But the man in the corner didn't disappear. He continued to follow her, instigating more and more incidents of bad behavior. Malice started to feel like she was in a horror movie. She couldn't escape her own life, and she couldn't tell anyone about the man. One day, she decided to take matters into her own hands. She confronted the man, demanding to know who he was and what he wanted. He didn't answer but instead began to change form. In an instant, he changed from a man to a demon, with horns, wings, and glowing red eyes. Malice was terrified, but she knew she had to act. She shouted at him, telling him to leave her alone and never come back. Suddenly, the demon disappeared entirely, and Malice was left standing alone, panting in the street. Over the next few weeks, Malice was able to slowly regain her life as the man in the corner ceased to plague her. She went back to school and started to hang out with her friends again. But, she would never forget what had happened to her. She would always be aware that some malicious forces existed beyond our comprehension, and that sometimes it is worth taking risks to protect the innocent.
