I hate everything. I hate all the creatures in Adamont. The place I call home. I hate the ones laughing at me while putting gum in my hair. I hate that I can't do anything back. I remember Eleanore's words. They echo in my head. "They have too much power, Evelyn. Don't do anything to disappoint them." Sometimes I hate her too. She is not human. She will never understand.

I was born into a family of five: My father, my mother, Eleanore my older sister of two years, and Elisabeth my older sister of five years. My sisters are both fairies like my mother. My father is a Redcap. I am human. I never knew the explanation for it. Until I did. Apparently, I had some sort of great-grandmother that was human. It sucks. It does. For a while, I wished she never existed. Harsh but expected. It is hard to be human in Adamont. Everyone knows there is no place for humans here.

A tear escapes my eye. I snap back to reality. I am not letting Jace, Theodore, Dorothea, and their other friends see me cry. Jace is a black-haired monster. There is no better word to describe him. He tears down everyone that comes his way. Theo is a blond-haired friend of his. And Thea is a red-head friend of there's. They are disgusting. Looking at them makes me want to puke.

"You horrid mortal. You human. Do you think you will ever become one of us? You don't belong here." Thea says in a sarcastic sorry tone. She grabs a big chunk of my hair and starts to pull it slightly. Then aggressively. I slightly winced out of pain. She laughed and pulled harder. It felt as if little needles were poking my head. It hurt, but I never told them that. Jace gets up from his seat. "You should have thought of the consequences of your actions. Look what you did," he stated.

It seems as if I did something horrible right? To be honest I wish I did, but I didn't. All I did was answer a question right after Thea got it wrong. So what? I wouldn't care. What do I expect they have too big of an ego to be wrong. I don't dare say anything. I bit my tongue the whole time. Theodore and Dorothea are siblings Their parents are deadly. Everyone is scared of them. There is a rumour that they killed a teacher for giving the twins bad grades. Jace is more powerful than them though. He is the prince. Yes, the literal prince of Adamont. He is terrible. He takes advantage of his power. He fires teachers who disturb him. Hurts others because of the smallest things.

Theo punches me. Hard. A drop of blood hurries down my lips. Suddenly, I am scared. "You know what the difference between us is?" Jace asks his pitch-black eyes looking straight into mine. You can see pure hatred in them. Nothing else. "You don't?" he asks faking a surprised look. "Enlighten me," I say. I don't look as terrified as I am. I don't look scared at all. It's probably making them go crazy but they brushed it off. "We are the Folk. We are with our kind. You don't belong here, never did, and never will.

The words sink deep into my soul. He's right. I don't belong here. I hate that he is right. Suddenly, one of the friends comes and whispers something in Jace's ear. He nodded. "It's time for her to go home," he said disappointed. "why," Thea asks"Her beloved father is searching for her. He will kill us if he finds out." He answered. Theo grabbed my head and dumped it into a bucket of water.
