"He let her go with a smile. A year later, she returned—only through a letter."

It was raining that day. Abhi sat by the window, his eyes lost in the gray sky, but his heart — it was full of Rini.

Two years ago, on this very day, they had first met at a friend’s birthday party. Rini had walked in quietly, her face shy but her smile — it was unforgettable. That smile had pulled Abhi in like a quiet storm.

Love didn’t happen instantly. It grew slowly, one little moment at a time. Rini was a lover of books, while Abhi found his soul in music. Their worlds were different, but their love fit like a missing piece in each other’s life. He sang for her. She wrote poems for him — though she rarely shared them.

But does time ever lose to love?

One evening, out of nowhere, Rini told him she was leaving. Permanently. A scholarship. A better future. A life abroad.

Abhi didn’t scream. He didn’t cry. He just stood still and whispered,

“Stay safe.”

After she left, silence took over Abhi’s world. He stopped visiting the café they used to spend hours in. He stopped singing the songs they both loved. Everything turned hollow.

A year passed.

And then, one rainy morning, a letter arrived.

_“Dear Abhi,

I know I hurt you. I never meant to. But life moved faster than I could handle.

Over here, everything is new, shiny — but I miss what was real.

You.

I thought time would make me forget.

It didn’t.

If I ever find the courage to return, I hope you’ll still remember me.

You were my one real love.

— Rini”_

Abhi read the letter in silence. His fingers trembled slightly, but his heart — it smiled, for the first time in months.

He whispered softly,

“Come back, Rini… I’m still here, at the same old place....”
