Once upon a time, in a grand old mansion on the edge of town, lived a beautiful young lady named Isabella. She was the daughter of a wealthy and powerful man, who had high hopes for her future. However, Isabella's heart belonged to a young man named Thomas, who lived in the village below.

Thomas was a simple man, but he had a kind heart and a passion for life. He worked hard as a blacksmith in the village and spent his free time exploring the woods and dreaming of a life with Isabella.

Isabella and Thomas had been childhood friends, and their friendship had blossomed into love as they grew older. They would meet secretly in the woods, holding hands and talking about their future together. They dreamed of running away and starting a new life together, away from the constraints of Isabella's father and his expectations.

But their love was doomed from the start, as Isabella's father had arranged for her to marry a wealthy suitor from the city. He believed that the marriage would secure a powerful alliance and bring even more wealth and status to the family. Isabella, however, was heartbroken at the thought of leaving Thomas and marrying someone she did not love.

Despite her protests, her father insisted that the wedding preparations continue. Isabella's heart was heavy with sorrow, and she became ill with a fever. She knew that her time with Thomas was coming to an end and that she would never be able to tell him how much she loved him.

One night, as the storm raged outside, Isabella took a walk in the garden, where she collapsed and died of a broken heart. Her father was devastated by her death and ordered a grand funeral, complete with a beautiful marble tombstone, to honor her memory.

Years passed and Thomas never forgot his true love. He often visited her grave to lay flowers and whisper sweet nothings to her. He would talk to her as if she were still alive, telling her about his day and his hopes for the future. He never married, never forgot her, and never moved on.

One night, as a storm raged outside, Thomas heard a knock on his door. Expecting it to be the wind, he was shocked to find Isabella standing before him, her hair and dress soaked from the rain. She had returned to give him one last kiss goodbye.

Overjoyed, Thomas embraced her, but as he leaned in to kiss her, she suddenly vanished into thin air. Thomas knew then that Isabella's love for him was so strong that she had returned from the dead to say goodbye. And from that day on, he knew that she would always be with him, in spirit.

Thomas was not the only one who saw Isabella's ghost. Some of the villagers claimed to have seen her walking in the woods, her white dress glowing in the moonlight. They would often hear her laughter and the sound of her voice in the wind.

The villagers believed that Isabella's spirit had returned to the place where she and Thomas had first fallen in love. They thought that she had come back to be with the man she loved, even if only for a moment.

From then on, the villagers started to call her the "Lady of the Woods" and they would leave flowers at the base of a tree where she was said to appear. They believed that she brought good luck and prosperity to the village.

Years went by, and Thomas grew old. He spent his last days sitting under the tree where Isabella used to appear, waiting for her to come back and give him one last kiss. And as he took his last breath, he felt a gentle touch on his cheek and heard a soft voice whisper "I love you" in his ear.

When the villagers found Thomas' body under the tree, they knew that he had finally been reunited with his true love. They buried him next to Isabella's grave, and from that day on, the two lovers were never apart again.

Even to this day, some villagers claim to see the ghost of Isabella walking in the woods, her white dress glowing in the moonlight. They say that she still visits the tree where she and Thomas used to meet, and that she brings good luck and prosperity to the village.

The mansion where Isabella used to live, now abandoned, is said to be haunted by her ghost. People who venture inside claim to feel a sense of sadness and longing, as if Isabella's spirit is still searching for her true love.

The story of Isabella and Thomas has become a legend in the village, a reminder of the power of true love and the lengths that one will go to be with the one they love. Even in death, their love lives on, forever united in the spirit of the lady of the woods.
