The Last Calls Of Karen Lavoie
Submitted To The Last Call Challenge

Despite being a commuter flight between two mountainous western region cities, the twin peak aerial flyover enticed first time customer fascination, capturing innocent attention. Professional fashion talent agency requests dictated, tight bun, creating a serious work environment attitude. Minutes after coming down from the enchanting puffy clouds, Karen Lavoie disappeared, finding a restroom hideaway.
Following handling private issues and officially terminating the public presentation clock, the well-known flight attendant's print advertising model relieved the bobby pins' active-duty responsibilities, personally appreciating the chilling minute.
"Such beautiful black hair," a mysterious voice commented.
"Oh, you think so?" Karen addressed, "this is the last call my handlers will pitch. I am tired, it is the same critical corporate hippos, every time."
"But you had a nice ride? Didn't you?"
Smiling, Karen brush stroked one more time before packing the purse and soon strolled through the baggage claim area. Fetching the overnight weekend quick getaway gear sack, she ventured outside interpreting self-parking signs.
Quickly, meeting her rough terrain friendly jeep, sleeping peacefully, occupying the proper designated spot, Karen threw the designer duffle bag accomplishing a bucket swish, then commanded the driver's seat, taking back control. Carefully navigating the exit route, the independent success, paid the required dues, and left the complex.
Only a few minutes passed, already the door opened, "I won't be long," Karen told the weather protected car, pressing the fob, digesting the ferry's direction advice, proceeding towards the passenger concourse.
Deciding fresh air needed, the outdoors woman found a spot near the railing, "you have beautiful long black hair," she heard.
"I have been told," Karen kindly responded, "it is going to be a nice night."
"This sunset trip always has its picturesque qualities," the executive image mentioned, "aren't you the Mirror Airlines take-off promotion?"
"Yup" Karen confirmed, "got my start right over there, "the stunning visual recreated a memorable photo shoot, pointing out the football stadium, "was cheering for the home team and someone noticed the cameras were more interested in the game then my pinup virtues, offered me a job, not asking if I knew how to serve coffee or tea."
"I am C Jack as in See Jack Towing, you all know, ' we will jack your car up and take it away'," C Jack informed, "look, I am caught between a hard rock a mundane place, I need new creative ideas, can I buy you dinner?"
"Heading all the way to Growling Point and usually stop midway," Karen explained, "Christiane's Fine Cuisine has the best free buffet."
"It's the only one in town, I live a few feet away," C Jack grinned.
When the state courtesy mass transit vessel docked, Karen rejoined her auto companions' lap and started the engine. Receiving the green thumbs up, she found herself observing the suggested route, greeting the open single lane with beamers bright, 'Huskie Highway'.
Popping a CD, pressing start, the recordings provided escape pleasure featuring her favorite band "Powder Blue's", singing their hit song, "Nothing but A Tease"
"I like it," Karen sent the dashboard a message, "and I am not a tease, I am a nice personable person with beautiful black hair."
Continuing the long journey down the winding well illuminated trail, Karen hummed all the words until the tunes were interrupted,
"Crawford Roadster, good to hear from you, how is your brother Wallace and your jalopy fixer upper joint, great, well I am meeting with C Jack, come join us at Huskie Highway's Christiane's Fine Cuisine, I will see you there."
"Okay, Powder Blue, that should be the last call," Karen comforted the department store purchased tape.
Over an hour elapsed and Karen embraced the restaurant's glowing motto, "stop here and we do charge for the beer," making the modern entrepreneur laugh, "you have to know how to work the system."
Flipping keys, wondering if C Jack would keep the conversation commitment, the loving heart felt the hungry urge, grabbing clean dishes, "welcome home Karen," the owner Christiane’s called out.
"Still another long stretch," Karen admitted.
"Long stretches are healthy workouts, enjoy mother nature’s gift and let your beautiful black hair relax,"
Turning around, Karen noticed C Jack sitting there, entertaining a full plate accompanied by an overflowing sudsy mug, "Didn't the wife have dinner cooked?"
"No, haven't been home yet," C Jack instinctually rose, providing a proper gentlemen gesture,
"Thank you," Karen accepted the chair, placing her meal ticket, quietly on the table, "conjured a few ideas during a Powder Blue rocking session.”
Suddenly, Crawford entered the establishment, and Karen hailed the invited guest, "get some grub and join us."
After the nutritious creative experience, a teenage adult server approached, "kids are home and need schoolwork help. Desserts will only be available, a few more minutes longer."
"Sweet," Karen exclaimed, "it was great talking to you two, and I hope my advice will fuel your endeavors."
Gathering complimentary napkins, Karen wrapped a few items to go, confidently, prepared and ready to attack the final miles. Standing outside cordially offering a second goodbye, the enthusiastic go-getter rendered, "I love watching C Jack run back to his wife," she stated
"He's got the proper teasing goods, Mrs., loves old fashion All American apple pie," Crawford added.
"Tell your brother," Karen took a bite, "we need to talk"
"Sure will," Crawford agreed, completing the assignment.
Relishing the sugar high, Karen reached the end point, retrieving her belongings skipping then negotiating wooden steps, revealing a comfortably decorated unlocked log cabin studio apartment.
Seeing the blinking red light, Karen listened hearing the electronic machine’s service results, "you have one call,"
Absorbing the audio intently, the tape spoke, "It's Wallace, I have a simple question; I promise this is the last call," then a figure appeared kneeling,
"Would you marry me?" And Karen filled with tears, unleashing a gleeful, 'yes'.
Leaves applauded, rustling a doing it right blessing but the boom effect produced an odd revelation luring Karen, "it's a bear," noted the engaged future bride moving the window blinds, "such beautiful black hair,"
Wallace joined his life partner, "keep walking bear, there is a free late-night menu offered by the diner down the street; you may want to get there before last call."
Giggling, Karen embraced her beau confirming; he was the last gentlemen's caller, closing the wild lifestyle chapter and starting the suburbia bedroom community sequel.
