The King of Hearts

Prologue

There weren't always dragons in the valley. Then again, many other creatures and races of our world weren't always here. The elves, the dwarfs, the lizardmen, Including our own kind as humans had a beginning. Gather around young bloods, for I shall unfold The legend and history of the world we live in.

In the beginning, there was 'The One'. A being of an unknown spiritual entity that traveled through space and time. The One decided to settle down from his travels and create shapes and sculptures; some in his own image from elements he learned throughout his travels. Suddenly spirits became attracted to The One's creations and slowly absorbed them. Becoming reborn in their new bodies, The One was now among many. In time, a spiritual realm was born as the spirits continued to gather.

One day The One was approached by a spirit who wished to gain all the knowledge The One has ever known. Especially the ability to create. The One sorrowfully declined to share his knowledge, for the spirit was not capable of such a feat. The Spirit refused to accept this, for he was known to be one of the best spirits in the realm, and being told he was incapable made him bitter. So the Bitter spirit decided to take matters into his own hands by breaking down the body he was given by The One into pieces and forming it into his own liking; claiming to be his own creation.

The bitter spirit then began to show all the other spirits what he had done to his body, leading everyone to believe he had created it himself. Just like The One. Many who have admired the bitter spirit, for he was the best among them praised his work and wanted to learn as well. Others saw it to be wrong; flawed, and ungrateful to what was gifted to them by The One. A debate began to brew in the realm. The bitter spirit's pride grew into anger for those that deny his ability to create. In the heat of an argument, the bitter spirit destroyed another spirit's body then drained the spirit's life making it his own. At that moment, he became the first dark spirit to wage 'The Spirit War' against The One and those who follow him.

Many battles were fought during The Spirit War, but one battle turned the tide to The One's favor. Forcing the dark spirit and his remaining forces to retreat. As the dark forces run in desperation, they come across a world where they sought to hide from The One and his army. In this world lived several creatures and elements that were able to keep the world balanced to prosper, but the greatest discovery to the dark spirit was the beings called humans that lived in this world. The dark spirit took this opportunity to deceive the humans, promising them power beyond their understanding to increase his influence and rank against The One. Just like he did to his own body, He changed the humans that accepted his proposal by morphing the elements and the creatures that surround them into each human. One by one, they began to change into different beings. Some were granted beast-like features as well as their characteristics, while others were given control of certain elements or increased capabilities of senses and attributes. While the dark spirit changed humans, his power increased tremendously. Giving him the form as we know to be 'The first Dragon.'

The humans that refused the dark spirit's offer were now shunned from the others by the dark spirits' influence. Which led to a dispute, then a brawl, and then finally bloodshed. The once united peaceful world has now become divided into chaos. The other spirits followed suit, dominating anything that they came across, eager to grow their own forces and power. The spirits and the multiple new beings had many names, but the one that was heard the most was The Dragon and his army of the fallen.

The One found The world in dismay and took action to help the humans fight against the fallen and have granted them his own gift called a Charism: an extraordinary spiritual power to those who will follow him to fight the Dragon and the dark spirits evil ways. The One and his forces fought to purge the evil in this world but the Dragon and the fallen continued to grow rapidly despite their losses against The One. Until one day a human was given the Charism of Redemption. Instead of slaying the fallen who have been defeated by his hand, he offers them a chance to change their ways and fight for a chance for peace in this world once again. Those of the fallen that have accepted his proposal were granted a Charism from The One as well, and were given a chance to start anew. However, if a person decides to fall back into darkness then the Charism and any other power will be taken from them. The Dragon saw this Charism to be a threat and made it his utmost priority to destroy this human. The Dragon succeeded in taking the human's life, but it was a mistake.

The Charism of Redemption was also of Archaic: Paying the price of freedom for all. In his death, his Charism power spread to everyone in the world giving everyone the ability to redeem and release the control of the influence of the Dragon and dark spirits. The Dragon grew furious, but before he could retaliate a Guardian Spirit of light sent by The One, ambushed the Dragon and was taken down as well as his army. Once again the dark spirit known as the first Dragon retreated and had disappeared into the shadows, many of the dark spirit's followers were imprisoned but some had also escaped just like him. Some say those who have escaped had become dragons themselves. Others say the first dragon is taking pieces of himself and forming them as smaller dragons to torment our world. To those who stayed human, and those who were no longer human, went their separate ways. Taking advantage of their chance to start anew and build multiple nations of their kind. The One saw this world to not yet be at peace, so he assigned spirits to be the guardians of this world to guide the people to find peace once again someday. The One and The Guardian spirit of light ascended back into the heavens, where they also disappeared and were never seen since. Chaos and the fallen still lingered in the world but were never seen for some time, until a new era began…
