Part 1

Rainbow Heart had never met the woman who left her the house but she claimed to be a distant relative of hers, and she was very clear about one thing in order for her to get the house she had to move in within a week, and so that is what she did. Everything was going great the first few weeks in the house but then she started to hear noises coming from one of the rooms on the third floor; every night she would hear footsteps and talking and then what sounds like a door open and close. After about a week of hearing this noise, she decided to investigate what was going on so she waited until the usual time the noise started and she slowly crept up to the door. She could hear talking coming from inside but she could not hear what was being said so she slowly twisted the doorknob. She was not ready for what she saw when she opened the door, standing next to a wooden door in the corner were two fairies looking very surprised to see her.

“I thought you made sure she was sleep, Clara”, the first fairy said.

“I thought you had, Maebel”, the second fairy said.

“What is going on”, Rainbow said.

“What are we going to do now Maebel, we didn’t find what object yet”

“We have to leave but we can’t let her follow us through the door”

“Uh excuse me, but who are you, and why are you here?”, Rainbow was starting to get frustrated.

“Don’t worry about it”, Maebel said right before she threw some glittery dust in Rainbow's face, she blinked rapidly and spit out specs of dust with an angry look growing on her face.

“Why did you do that”, she was wiping her face while she was talking.

“That should have knocked her out the second it touched her face”, both fairies were looking stunned that she was still standing.

“I know, what are we going to do now?”, Clara said.

“Maybe start with telling me what is going on”, her patience was running thin.

Both fairies tried to make a run for the door in the corner but Rainbow was already closer to it so she just stepped in from of it to block their way out, she was not going to let them go without an explanation for why they were there and where the door was leading to. She sat down in front of the door and waited for one of them to make the first move for the door, the first fairy who seemed to be the one in charge made her move but was pushed to the other side of the room. The second fairy went next thinking she was going to avenge her friend only to end up in the same position, both fairies were sitting in the opposite corner from the door. It was clear to them now that they were not getting out without explaining what was going on and trying to move Rainbow from the door was not going to work because she was bigger than them.

The first fairy decided that they had no choice but, to tell the truth, if they wanted to get out of the room and so she started talking, “Alright, the person who owned the house before you was a witch and she left an object with a lot of power in it for us to find”. She told her that this person sent them a letter about a week ago to come and find the powerful object and keep it safe, “She said that it would not be obvious to spot by site but would be emitting power”.

“Well I don’t think what you are looking for is here, besides you have been looking for this object for the past week and you have not found it yet maybe it is not here”, she made a fair point.

“We know it is here because the sensor that we made to locate the object says that it is in this house and we can’t leave until we find it and take it with us for safekeeping” Clara spoke up at that moment.

“Come to think of it, the sensor had been glowing green since you came in the room, it has only glowed red when we come in here, which tells me that it is in here now”, Maebel was speaking next.

“How, if you have looked in here for a week and not found a thing?”

“We can try an experiment right now, you could go out of the room and we could see what color the sensor turns”, she was unsure about this, they could try to run.

“How do I know you won’t just lock me out or try to run”

“Clara can go with you, I surely won’t leave her behind if I was planning to run”, she had a point about that.

“Very well then, let's get this over with”, she grabbed the other fairy and walked out of the room, and headed to her bedroom, and while she was out of the room the sensor turned back to red confirming the fairy's suspicions about what was going on. She called them back into the room to let them know that she was right about what she was thinking, “it seems that my thoughts were confirmed when you both left the room, you are what we have been looking for”.

“I am just a woman who inherited a house from some distant relative who she never met”

“But you have a lot of power radiating from you, you must come with us” before she could think about what was just laid on her the fairies grabbed Rainbow’s hands and dragged her through the door, she tried to resist going through the door but the fairies were using strong magic.

Part 2

Rainbow yanked her hands away from the fairies and turned to go back through the door but when she turned around the door was gone, she was unsure what she would do, she wanted to get home but she had no idea where to start looking for the door. She turned towards the fairies with anger radiating off in waves, she could feel something inside her rising up and before she knew what was going on one of the trees in the forest they were standing in blew up. Both the fairies dove for cover because more trees began to explode while Rainbow sat on the ground and tried to calm down but the more she got angry the more trees began to blow up. The fairies had no choice but to try to use the sleep dust again which only caused more anger to rise in the angry witch.

“Rainbow, you are going to have to calm down or you will destroy the forest”, Maebel tried to get through to her.

“You brought me here and now I have no way to get back”, another tree went boom.

“I know but you have to try to calm yourself down”

“I just want to go home”, she was not calming down, she was getting more upset. Clara pulled out a needle and stuck it in Rainbow’s neck and the witch went stiff and everything stopped, she closed her eyes and lay down to sleep.

“What did you give her?”

“A human sedative, she may be powerful but she is still part human”

“What are we going to do with her now?” they both looked at the sleeping witch.

“We have no choice, we are going to have to find that door and take her back, maybe dragging her here was the wrong move”

“I know, but I thought maybe if she saw the forest it would start to sink in for her”

“I don’t think she was told about who she really is, so we maybe should have gone slow with her when we figured out ourselves who she was”

“You’re right, let’s get started looking for that door before she wakes up”, the fairies started the long process of looking for the magical door that would take them back to Rainbow’s house, it took them some time but they finally found the door and quickly went through it, they put Rainbow in the bed and waited in the kitchen for her wake up and come down.

When Rainbow did wake up she thought the whole thing was a weird dream and that she needed to watch what she ate before bed; she got out of bed and got in the shower and got dressed for the day then headed downstairs for some breakfast. As she was heading down the stairs she started to smell the smells of breakfast and got nervous about who was in her house, when she finally reached the kitchen and she went through the door she saw the fairies from her supposed dream. She ran back up the stairs into her room and locked the door and hid under the covers like a child, she was hoping that it was all a bad dream but seeing the fairies made it all too real. She heard the lock click on the door, and then the door slowly open, she closed her eyes and repeatedly told herself to wake up hoping that at some point she would open her eyes and they would be gone.

“Rainbow come out of the covers”

“No, this isn’t real and I am still asleep, so go away”, she yelled from under the covers.

“We have to talk about this, now get out here”

“I don’t want to talk about anything with you, now go away”, she curled up into a ball.

Before she could come up with an exit strategy she felt the covers fly from the bed, the Maebel had an annoyed look on her face as she got ready to force the childish woman from the bed, she raised her hands said a few words, and the woman in the bed began to rise off the bed. The look of shock on Rainbow’s face was evident and the more she saw the fairies the more she began to get angry and the fairies could see that she was starting to get worked up. They put her back in the bed and slowly backed out of the room.

“We are going to wait for you downstairs, come down when you are ready”, they left the room and went downstairs to wait for her to calm down and come talk to them.

After about 30 minutes of talking herself into believing that what was happening was actually happening she went down the stairs and into the kitchen to have the talk with these magical intruders and tell them that she was not going to change her life simply because she was more special than usual. She just wanted to go on with her life as if nothing had happened but the fairies tried to warn her that her life was only going to get more complicated now that her powers have been activated.

“You don’t understand, your powers are only going to get stronger, you need to come back with us”

“No, you don’t understand, I am not going to give up my life because of some quirk”, she was getting irritated with the fairies.

“This quirk as you put it could expose the magical community and we can’t let that happen”

They went back and forth arguing what to do neither was willing to submit to the other, Rainbow was not willing to give up the life that she had created for herself, the fairies however were not going to go away until she agreed to at least give it some time in the other world. After giving it some thought she agreed to go with them but only for a little while.

Part 3

It had been a few months since Rainbow had left her life behind to train in a magical forest with a couple of fairies that she met while they were looking for a magical item in her house, turned out that she was the magical item they were looking for. She stayed in a little cottage that was created by the fairies to not only hide her from the rest of the magical creatures but also keep an eye on her to make sure she didn’t wander off and get into trouble. She spent her day training with the fairies and at night she worked on magical potions, she only got to talk to the fairies because they thought it would be best for her to keep her emotions in check. However, fate had other plans for the young witch; while on a break from training with the fairies she headed back to her cottage, when she got there she noticed the front door was ajar. She slowly crept toward the door and peeked inside, she saw a very big man walking around her living room; remembering the spells the fairies had taught her she raised her hand and said a few magical words, the man was frozen in place.

“OK, what are you doing in my house?”, the man looked at her but said nothing, then she remembered that she needed to free the man's mouth, she waved her hand and the man could speak again.

“I didn’t know who’s house this was, I just followed a scent and it lead me here”

“Well if you want to keep all your body parts I suggest that you leave now and never return”, she gave him fair warning.

“I would love to do that but I can’t”

“Why is that?”, she was getting annoyed.

“Well, you see, the person who owns the smell coming from this place is my fated mate”

“Did the fairies put you up to this? Is this a training exercise?”, she looked around like they were going to pop out at any moment.

“What fairies are you talking about, I told you the truth, I followed a smell to this place”

“I know this is a trick, so I will say it one last time, leave now or I will make you leave”, she was very serious about her promise.

“I told you that I can’t so just release me and we can…”, before he could finish his sentence she raised her hands and created a portal, waved her hands again the big man went through the portal. The rest of the day she spent trying to get the man out of her head, she didn’t know why she felt a sense of guilt about sending the man away but she knew that she had to do it. The next day she went to see the fairies tell them about what happened and find out if she passed the test that was set by them with the man from her cottage, she was still thinking about him.

“I passed the exercise with the man in my cottage, I sent him away just like you showed me”

“What man, we did not send a man to your cottage yesterday”, the fairies looked puzzled.

“Yes you did, the man was saying that I was his mate and that he followed my scent to the cottage”

“We really didn’t do this, we would not send anyone to your cottage, we are trying to keep you safe after all”

“If you didn’t send him, then someone else had to have sent him”, she was starting to get nervous.

“No one knows your here, we made sure to hide your presence from the rest of the magical world”

“Oh well, I did what I had to do”, she felt her heart twinge a little when she said that.

She went home and tried once again to get the man out of her mind, she knew that she might never see the man again and that really made her feel some type of way about it, she put the feeling aside and went on with the rest of her day studying up on more spells and potions. The next few days went by in a blur, Rainbow doubled down on her witch training as a way to distract herself from what was going on; the next day after the incident with the man in the cottage she could feel someone watching her but she could not see them and that began to bother her. Finally, she had, had enough of knowing someone was there but them not revealing themselves to her, she had asked them to come out and reveal themselves but they didn’t and so she figured that they would come out when they were ready.

“Alright, I tried to give you time to come out but you are taking too long”, she waved her hands and out popped the person who was watching her, it was the man she sent away; “what the hell, I thought I sent you away, why are you back here?”.

“I told you when we met that I followed your scent and that you are my fated mate, I will always be able to find you no matter where you go”

“Listen, buddy, I am nobody’s mate, so I will again ask you to leave me alone”

“You know what I am going to say”, he just stood there looking defiant.

“Then you leave me no choice, I will have to go someplace that you can’t follow”, she once again raised her hand and sent the man away.

Rainbow went to the fairies and told them that she was ready to go home, she didn’t tell them that the man was watching her and that she had to send him away; she told them that felt that it was time for her to get back to her life in the real world.

Part 4

Life began to get back to normal for Rainbow, she got her old job back and started going out more and meeting new people; the fairies would come and visit every few weeks to check on her and work on some spells, she was really getting into her witch life more. After a few months of getting backing to normal she forgot all about the man from the magical forest, she had started seeing this new guy and he was taking her out for dinner that night. She got home from work and confirmed with her date that they were still going to dinner; she spent the next few hours getting ready, she wanted to look good for her date because she was going to take him back to her place for the first time.

“Hey, how was your day?”, her date Franklin asked her.

“It was good, how was yours?”

“I got a lot done, sales are up this quarter”, he worked in marketing.

“That’s great, you're really taking it to the hole” they both laughed at her bad joke.

“Yeah, I really scored a touchdown”, they again laughed at the bad joke.

“And on that note, let's go inside and eat, I’m starved”

They headed into the restaurant and had a great time, they talked about their jobs and how their hobbies are going; she learned that he liked to do woodworking, and she told him about her garden; when the meal was over she asked him if he wanted to come back to her place for drinks. He agreed and said he would follow her in his car; she was beginning to get excited about him coming back with her, it had been a while since she had gotten any and she beginning to think it would never happen again. When they arrived at her place she let him know that things might look a little weird but that she had inherited the house from a relative and she hadn’t gotten around to boxing up their old stuff yet. He was understanding about it and even offered to come by one weekend and help her if she needed it, she thanked him but said that she would just call some people to come and get the stuff.

They were halfway into a movie when they started making out, she climbed onto his lap and they really began to go at it, she could feel him getting excited and she knew it wouldn’t be long before they were in her bed, however, someone else had other plans. She turned off the movie and grabbed Franklin’s hand and lead him up the stairs to her room and when they reached the door they were back at it making out and falling through the door. She was ripping his clothes off and he was doing the same to hers, things were really beginning to ramp up, they were so lost in what they were doing that they didn’t hear the person come into the room. Before either could react Franklin was on the floor unconscious, and the man from the magical forest was standing in front of her looking like he wanted to murder the unconscious man on the floor.

“What the hell, how did you get here?”, she was still in shock.

“I told you I would find you”

“No really, how did you get here?”, she really wanted to know.

“I followed the fairies through the door and waited for them to go and find you so I could hide somewhere in the house”

“Why are you just now making yourself known”

“I had to stop you from giving away what is mine”, his response angered her.

“Firstly, I am not yours”

“Agree to disagree”

“Secondly, what I do and who I do it with are none of your concern”

“They are when my mate is going to lay with another”

“For the last time, I am not your mate”, she was getting frustrated with this man.

“Yes you are and I am not going anywhere until you agree to come back with me so we can be together”, he was not going to give.

“I am not going to give up my life for a man I don’t even know, so leave now or I will make you leave”

“Well, my name is Adonis and I am not going anywhere”, she could see she was not going to reason with him.

“Alright, it’s time for you to go”, she raised her hand and the man was gone.

After collecting her thoughts, she put Franklin in the bed and headed into her magic workroom, and began writing a letter to the fairies, she was going to tell them about Adonis and how he snuck in when they came to see her last. Her solution was that they no longer come to see her in person and that she was going to put a lock on the magical door to keep people from coming through in case he tried again, she was not going to let some man get in her way of life. Once she was done writing the letter she magically sent it through the door to find the fairies, she then put a magical lock on the door to keep people from coming through it. She could just write a magical note on the writing paper the fairies gave her just in case the door got broken, that would be the way they would communicate from then on until she felt it was safe to unlock the door. She was not sure when that would be but until she did she would have to keep to herself and break up with Franklin, finding out she was a witch and that some crazy magical creature thinks she is his mate is a lot for one woman, but she will just have to find a way to adjust.

The end for now
