My entry into another one of Mike Singleton's A.K.A MikeyDred's marvellous challenges. The task was to create a piece of micro-fiction, inspired by the picture above.
'Finished! Can I get down now?' Jack asked hopefully.
'No it's not,’ said his mother, glancing at his picture before turning her attention to folding laundry. ‘Finish your homework.’
'Yes, it is.'
'How is it finished? You've only drawn half a man.'
'That's because he's disappeared.'
'Disappeared?'
'Disappeared. Vanished. Poof!'
'I know what disappeared means. How has he disappeared?’
'He's walking through the magic gate, look.'
'The magic gate?'
'Magic gate, fairy door, pathway to the underworld... great mystical teleporter to the world of flying pigs; the possibilities are endless.'
‘You don’t know where it goes?’ His mother raised her eyebrow.
‘I don’t need to know. That’s the beauty of it.’ He beamed, raising his picture to get a better look. ‘It’s perfect.’

I’ve just found this little gem! Loved it, very well done 🥰
I like that you used the drawing, itself as the subject. Great take on the challenge, and a fun read!
Dialogue is hard to write and get right, but this flows just as if two real people are having a conversation 😁
Complete with it's incompleteness. I loved this so much!
This made me smile 😊 this is exactly the sort of conversation I'd have with my son. I love it!
Excellent! Especially the "Poof!" Made me chuckle!

Leave it to Mom to want all the answers and never be happy with any of them. Funny story!
