The House Spider
Story 12/40 in The Forty Weeks Challenge
In the quiet corner of a cozy living room, a tiny house spider named Spindle spun delicate webs to catch his next meal. One evening, a human, startled by his presence, swiftly scooped him up and tossed him into the outdoors.
Disoriented and disheartened, Spindle found himself clinging to the unfamiliar exterior of the house. The cold nightfall was most unfamiliar to him.
But as the night deepened, Spindle's instincts kicked in. With determination fueling his every move, he flitted across the yard, seeking a place of refuge.
He trampled over blades of grass, fallen branches, and piles of leaves. He took scurried by industrious ants, continuing their work into the night crafting the mightiest of hills. Cautious beetles found shelter in whatever offered it. The wise crickets were smart enough to conduct their work in the shadows of the night. They all shared in the same struggle, to survive .
Finally, just as dawn was soon approaching, Spindle found sanctuary within a pile of mossy stones. He spun himself a web with his shimmering silken strands, determined and silent.
As the day unfolded and life buzzed around him, Spindle reveled in his newfound freedom. Though cast out from the comfort of human habitation, he had discovered a world teeming with possibility – a world where even the smallest of creatures could find their place under the sun.
And so, with a new lust for life and resilience coursing through him, Spindle embraced his fate as a creature of the wild, knowing that no matter where life may lead him, he would always find a way to weave the story of life the best he saw fit.

Inspiration for this story came one night when I trapped a spider in my room and decided toss it out instead of killing it. I made a joke to Neisha that the spider was probably upset because I kicked it out its house and was probably panicking when it got to the yard.
