The Hopeful Few

The Hopeful Few

By Roland JudisPublished 4 years ago • 3 min read

In the city of Chicago, the sky turned dark, and the ground shook as if it were alive. The world had ended, and the apocalypse had begun. People were running in every direction, screaming and shouting, as the world around them crumbled. Among the chaos, a small group of survivors huddled together, seeking shelter from the destruction.

There was Jack, a former soldier who had been on leave when the world ended. There was Samantha, a young woman who had been walking her dog when the first tremors hit. And there was Tom, an elderly man who had been sitting in his rocking chair when the chaos began. They were all strangers before the apocalypse, but now they were bound together by the need to survive.

As they crouched together in an abandoned building, they talked about what they could do. "We have to find food and water," Jack said, "We can't last long without them."

Samantha nodded in agreement. "But where can we find those things?" she asked, her voice trembling.

Tom spoke up. "We need to search the city, block by block," he said, "We might find something that others have missed."

As they talked, they heard a loud rumbling sound in the distance. They peered out of the building and saw a massive wave heading towards them. "We have to move!" Jack shouted, grabbing Samantha's hand and pulling her towards the direction opposite to the wave.

They ran through the city streets, dodging debris and rubble. They reached the outskirts of the city and found an abandoned factory. It was in bad shape, but it was shelter, for now.

As they settled in, they talked about what they had lost. Jack talked about his family, who he had not been able to reach. Samantha talked about her friends, who she had lost in the initial chaos. Tom talked about his wife, who had passed away years ago.

Despite their losses, they knew that they had to stay strong. They talked about their hopes for the future, of rebuilding and creating a new world.

Days turned into weeks, and weeks turned into months. They scoured the city for supplies, but it was becoming harder and harder to find. They knew that they had to find a more permanent solution.

One day, they heard a faint radio transmission. They managed to tune in and heard that there were survivors in the city of Seattle, who had created a community and were thriving. They knew what they had to do.

They set out on foot, heading towards Seattle. It was a long and dangerous journey, but they were determined to make it. They talked about what they would do when they got there, how they would help build a new world.

After many weeks, they finally reached Seattle. They were welcomed with open arms, and they knew that they had found their new home. They talked about their journey and the trials they had faced, and they knew that they had become stronger through it all.

In Seattle, they joined forces with other survivors, and they worked tirelessly to build a new world. They started a farm, they built homes, and they established a system of government. They knew that the world might never be the same again, but they were hopeful for the future.

Years went by, and the community in Seattle grew stronger. They established trade routes with other cities and even started to explore the ruins of the old world. And through it all, Jack, Samantha, and Tom remained a beacon of hope, inspiring others to never give up.

The end of the world had been just the beginning of a new one, and they knew that they were the hopeful few who could help rebuild it.

The End.
