Once upon a time, in a grand mansion, four friends were spending their weekend playing cards. The mansion had been owned by a wealthy family that had mysteriously disappeared several years ago, leaving the house abandoned. The four friends, who were always seeking adventure, had decided to explore the mansion and make it their temporary residence for the weekend.

As they were playing cards, they suddenly heard a faint sound of crying coming from the basement of the house. The four friends paused their game and looked at each other in confusion. None of them had any idea what could be making the sound. Curiosity got the best of them, and they decided to investigate.

They descended the stairs to the basement, their footsteps echoing in the empty hallways. The basement was dark and musty, with cobwebs hanging from the ceiling. The sound of crying grew louder as they approached an old wooden door at the end of the hallway. The door was locked, but they managed to pry it open with a crowbar.

As they entered the room, they were hit by a chilling gust of wind, and the door slammed shut behind them. The room was filled with old furniture, antique paintings, and an eerie silence. The sound of crying had stopped, and the friends were left alone in the dark.

Suddenly, the room was illuminated by a pale, flickering light that appeared to be coming from nowhere. The light illuminated a figure in the corner of the room, dressed in old-fashioned clothes. The figure was a ghostly apparition of a woman, who was crying softly.

The four friends were terrified and tried to run towards the door, but it wouldn't budge. They were trapped in the room with the ghostly figure. The apparition slowly turned her head towards them, and her eyes seemed to bore into their souls. They were frozen in fear, unable to move or scream.

The ghostly woman floated towards them, and her hand reached out to touch them. They felt a cold shiver run down their spines as her hand passed through their bodies. The apparition's face was filled with sadness, and she whispered in a mournful voice, "Please, help me."

The friends realized that the woman was a ghost who had been trapped in the mansion for years. They asked her what she needed help with, but she only cried harder and disappeared into thin air.

The four friends were now desperate to find a way out of the basement. They searched the room and found an old journal that belonged to the wealthy family who had lived in the mansion. As they read through the journal, they learned that the ghostly woman was the wife of the owner of the mansion.

The wealthy family had been cursed by a powerful sorceress who had been wronged by the family. The curse stated that the family would disappear, and their mansion would remain empty and haunted forever. The only way to break the curse was to find the sorceress and ask for her forgiveness.

The four friends realized that they had to find the sorceress and break the curse to free the trapped ghost. They searched the mansion and found an old map that led to a nearby forest, where the sorceress was said to reside.

They ventured into the forest, and after hours of searching, they found the sorceress's hut. The sorceress was an old and wrinkled woman, who looked like she had lived for centuries. They told her about the curse and begged for her forgiveness.

The sorceress listened intently and nodded slowly. She said that she had been waiting for someone to come and break the curse for years. She told them that the only way to break the curse was to sacrifice something that they held dear.

The friends realized that they had to sacrifice something to break the curse. They looked at each other, wondering what they could sacrifice. One of them spoke up, "We have to sacrifice our fear."

The sorceress nodded in agreement and handed them a small bottle of potion. She instructed them to drink it, and their fear would be taken away. They did as she instructed, and immediately felt a sense of calm wash over them.

Feeling brave and determined, the friends returned to the mansion. They entered the basement and found the ghostly woman waiting for them. They approached her, and she looked at them with hope in her eyes.

One of the friends spoke up, "We're here to help you. We know how to break the curse." They explained the sorceress's instructions and handed her the bottle of potion.

The ghostly woman drank the potion, and immediately, the room was filled with a blinding light. The curse had been broken, and the mansion was free from its haunted past.

The four friends left the mansion, feeling relieved and proud of what they had accomplished. They had saved a trapped soul and freed a cursed mansion. They knew that they would never forget their terrifying experience, but they also knew that they had overcome their fears and had become braver because of it.
