THE GOD-FATHER

Sarah and Daniel were left alone 7 years ago, on the same date as today, April 23, 2025. They never knew whether their parents died or something else happened. They just knew that one day their parents went out and they never returned. The children had no one except their parents. Sarah is the younger one and her brother cares a lot about her. While Daniel is a boy who is mad at their life and wants to be something else than just a boy who lives in an apartment with broken walls and windows. It looks like they are living in an abandoned ghosted house rather than an apartment where two people are living. He wants a better life for himself and her sister.

Daniel was coming back from work as usual and an old man starts following him. Daniel gets scared and starts running as the streets of Brooklyn are not safe. The old man shouts his name “DANIEL”. Daniel has not seen this man in his entire life. Daniel asks him, “Who are you and how do you know me?” “I am your godfather, Amir and your father wanted me to give you this box when you turned 18”, the old man replies.

The box was sealed and Daniel’s name was written on it. After handing him the box, the old man turns back and be on his way. Daniel was surprised that how is it that he does not know his godfather, and his father gives a mysterious box to him when he turns 18.

Daniel gets back to the apartment with his sister and tells her everything that happened. Sarah gets surprised too. After telling her everything, they open the box. There is a letter, a key, an address, and some money.

Daniel opens the letter and starts reading. The letter says :

Hi Daniel,

"You are 18 now and are fully mature. Hence, I expect you to understand what I am about to say. I am most probably dead if you are reading this letter and I am not telling you personally. You and your sister inherit a generational wealth and a house. I couldn’t tell you before because some people were trying to disinherit you from your inheritance and I had to take care of them. I’ve most probably dealt with the problem by the time you are reading this letter. So, I want you to take care of yourself and your sister and I hope you don’t have to fight for your inheritance like I had to. There is some cash in the box, which you can use to buy tickets to go to the given address. Take the cash, take your sister and go there."

Daniel gets happy that they don’t have to live a petty life anymore. However, Sarah gets a little suspicious. She asks his brother, “Isn’t it strange, that a man, who claims to be your god-father, gives you a box, and the letter in it doesn’t mention anything about their mother and tells us that we have a generational wealth?” But Daniel doesn’t care until he has a hope of getting a better life. Sarah is smart and she tells him that it’s not a good idea. But her brother won’t listen.

The next morning, the very thing they do is book tickets and go to the given address. The address is an abandoned-looking place just outside the city. The house gives away very suspicious vibes and the location is the kind where killers would dump the bodies of people they have killed. The area surrounding the house is marshy and there is no soul to be seen nearby. Sarah knows that it is not a good idea to go inside and she asks her brother again to rethink and turn back. But her brother’s upper portion was always empty. They enter the house only to find out that the same person who gave the box to Daniel is standing right in front of them.

Daniel gets suspicious and now wants to turn back. But it’s already too late. As soon as he turns his face, he sees that the gate is automated and is already closed. He tries to open it but he can’t. The man so-called godfather puts on a mask and as soon as he puts it on, the hallway is filled with some gas. In no time, Sarah and her brother get unconscious.

When they open their eyes, they come to know that they are strapped with chairs. Their hands and feet are strapped. They try to free themselves but it’s of no use. After some time, the same man enters the room. He gives an evil smile while both of them are shouting to let them go. But he just keeps giving that killer smile.

They ask him, what does he want? He does not reply to him.

There are always some people who don’t want anything, they just want to watch the world suffer and burn. He seems that kind of man. He does not want anything from them. He just wants to make them suffer. Humans cannot resist their greed very easily. Daniel is a very good example of that. There were always hints that there was something off. But Daniel wouldn’t use his brain. Now, both of them would suffer one’s mistake.

He tells them that he knew their parents and they were just as greedy as they are. They fell into the same kind of trap and now they are dumped in the marsh around his house. After all, it was the place where the killer would dump the bodies of his victims into the marsh. He makes them watch the video in which he is torturing their parents and tells them that he is going to do the same to them. They scream and scream and scream and nobody is there to hear them and help them. Daniel now regrets his decision and just hopes that had listened to his sister, but little can he do now.

In the end, both of them just are added to the list of his victims. Nobody’s going to miss two orphaned children and going to bother to find them. At least now they are united with their parents. So, the killer would be roaming free and will find more people who would fall into his trap.
