The Glitter Girl was everything her name sounded to be. She was light and beauty. A beacon of hope in a dark world that was always burning. Always crumbling down into a million pieces. She was the girl to put a smile to your face. To remind you that there were things worth living for. The Glitter Girl performed and sang for those desperate enough to hear her calls, like a siren leading a sailor to his doom, but she was the opposite. She led depressed souls, hungry for happiness to the buffet of honored kings and worthy folks. She fed those with her light, never caring if it would impact her brightness. She was selfless and kind. A queen to rule in a previously broken kingdom, ready to fix her world.

The Glitter Girl opened her home for the lost. Held her hands out for the fallen. Opened her heart for the broken. She was maternal and beautiful. Responsible and mature, but fun in a childish way. She was smart and graceful. She was everything that anyone wanted in a girl.

The Glitter Girl performed shows for those who needed her light. Singing a song only desperate ears could hear. Always calling out, but never getting a response, as her job was to perform. To be listened to. The Glitter Girl was her own solo act. There was never a partner to be in a duet. She was forever meant to sing until her voice grew hoarse and even then, the show had to go on. She was never meant to listen to anyone else’s song. She was forever alone on the stage.

It was a moment of weakness when she sang for The Void. For a split moment, he sang for her. A duet where he sang one line, allowing her to carry the rest. He was the opposite of The Glitter Girl. He was danger and fear. A black hole to suck every ounce of light from the world until it imploded in on itself. Of all the shadows she had fed before, The Void was the hungriest of them all. A dark mass that captured her light in his bare hands. He was selfish and greedy, trapping her underground where no one would ever see her light again.

The Void could never be sated. His appetite increased with every time he caught a glimpse of her light. He drank her shine and bathed in her light, never caring how much he took, and never giving anything back. No matter how much he had, it never made him shine. If anything, it made his darkness worse. The Void was a vampire, sucking her light until there was barely a candle flame left.

With that candle flame, The Glitter Girl escaped her confines from the basement she was kept in and opened her heart again. With that small flame, she added fuel to the fire inside and fixed her hair and donned her signature golden dress before stepping onto the stage for the first time in months. She performed her show, basking in the warmth of the lights, allowing herself to heal from The Void.

When The Void returned, he was hungrier than ever, but The Glitter Girl realized in her time away from him, she didn’t have to feed everyone who came to her show. The light that she bathed in didn’t have to be shared with every demon under her bed. Her home could be closed to those who didn’t deserve her shine. Her walls could be sound proofed from the inside to protect herself and the other people she had saved.

The Void tried to capture her. To wrap her in a lasso of death and anguish. She felt his lethal tendrils wrap around her body, but the bond was only snug. Not as constricting as before, but just enough that she would always feel it, extracting her light out of her body slowly. It was then that she met The Warrior.

The Warrior rode on a white steed and had armor of steel. A classic man, carrying a sword and a shield. He rode into her life with no hesitation and no expectation. His golden hair matching brilliantly with her golden dress. She had never seen anyone quite like him before. He sat down at her show in the front row, listening, but never falling too far deep into the warm ocean of her song. Where others had almost drowned, he was merely floating.

The Warrior cut the smoky, darkened tendrils of The Void and rescued his queen, banishing The Void to the very same basement he had once trapped The Glitter Girl into. He climbed up onto the stage right beside his Glitter Girl and plucked the microphone from her hands. He led her off the stage and into the same seat he had once been in.

She was able to feel the heat of the lights leave her body, but in a way that left her cool and refreshed instead of drained. Her dress remained golden. Her skin remained sparkly, but she was able to relax. The Warrior continued her song for her, but made it his own. He took his own light and reflected it on her, showering her for the first time in the glitter of someone else. She had someone to sing to her. She had a partner to sing with. The Warrior was going to be there to protect her. He was there to teach her that there were other people who could sing. Who could shine their light on her. That she didn’t have to shine alone. He was there to light his own torch and add to her light, making the darkened tunnels of the world just a little brighter. The Glitter Girl had a reason to shine, and she found someone willing to shine for her. She was not the only light bearer. The Warrior, armed with a sword on a steed, had his own light to shine.
