“ Team ready , yourself will you , know teams” Starling looked sound at her small group , before she separated them into smaller groups maybe to never see them again. But she could not show her fear of this on her face; she just had to straighten her back and make the groups. “ Annika and Josephine, then that leaves Lavender and me.” Starling walked over to her partner and stopped in front of Starling, tossing her coat over shoulders.

Starling then stepped forward Lavender following as she pushed open the door “We have the bottom floor, you two do the top.”

Lavender turned to go down the hallway where there was little light, and felt a tug on their wrist only to see that Starling was over by Annika. Agreeing with her probably about the partnering, Josphine really did nothing when they came on these jobs because she always had a book with her. Lavender had always found it strange she was so confident in places like these. “Are you coming, Star?” Starling walked over to them and grabbed the same wrist that they had shaken off the cold feeling from, and dragged them towards the dark hall.

They walked down the halls as the quietness set in between them, Lavender was using a lighter, Starling used a lamp, they separated and Lavender went into the left room. The rooms they did go into were empty as if someone had come in and taken all the furniture away. As they looked around the room their light lit up a map on the far wall, Lavender saw unrecognizable marks on the map and decided that it would be best to burn it, they took the lighter to the map and it was engulfed with flames.

Josphine laid her back against the dusty wall as her legs laid on the thin bars for the stairs. An old book in her hands, her hair used as a curtain. She looked down at the page and her partner, Anikka, stood a few feet away. Josphine looked back at the book and was fully transferred to a different place as she read, one that was less broken, one that had people with runes saved. As she always was not worried a spirit would come at her as Anikka had her back, her team had learned till the fight was brought to them she never removed her nose from the pages of a book.

Anikka walked around in her dark skirt, in a circle chanting as she shook a bottle of clear liquid then set that down and lit the candle by her feet causing a dark shine from her black star earrings. As she lit the candle, she drew a symbol on the ground and stepped a little ways from it, spinning as if music was enchanting the room.

Josphine set her book down between her crossed legs, leaning her hand back as her fingers kept the page bookmarked, looking at Annika.

A faint glow came from the center of the circle, seeming to blink slightly, and Annika crossed her hands over her stomach, closing her eyes. She slowly got up, her lips moving and the room got dark and cold.

Anikka walked over to a box that had appeared, she opened it to find a small brown box laced with gold, a necklace, and victorian artwork.

Anikka walked over to Josephine and smiled, the necklace hidden within the pockets of her skirt.

“What did the ghost say?” Josephine looked at her slightly as they both went down the stairs.

“That you're an odd ginger” Anikka said kiddingly, Josphine got quiet as they walked down the next flight of stairs, both girls silent.

Starling leaned up against one of the posts of the porch as Lavender played with the strings on their shirt. Starling wondered what was taking them so long if they had found a ghost, one of probably many in this house. “What's your thoughts on this place Ven?”

Lavender looked up as they stooped the swing from both squicking and rocking back and forth “If it was not infested by ghosts then, it could be a good outpost” they passed as they looked at the door and the driver honked his horn, “ should we-'' Lavender was caught short as Anikka and Josephine came out walking to the car, both Lavender and Starling followed behind them. Lavender was the last in the car as soon as they sat down the driver set his foot on the gas and started even before the door was closed, Lavender closed the door with an unwanted slam as Josephine settled down for a nap on Anikka’s shoulder.

Lavender looked out the window, past Starling seeing only green trees. They looked away from the window, looking at Starling as she was scribbling something in the small notebook in her lap, “What are you writing down?” but they never got there answer as the driver yelled for no reason

“Out! We’re here!” the diver said as he waited for all of them to get out.

Anikka moved slightly, scooting towards the door. The rest of them got out of the car, standing in front of their burnt down place. Starling whirled around, “WHo took something?!” no one responded. She walked towards Anikka and grabbed her wrist. “Get what you can from the wreckage. Then we go.”

Starling tightened her grip on Anikka’s arm “You know you were supposed to burn everything we found! You have two choices, let the necklace go, or keep it and not be a part of this team.”

Anikka backed up, twisting away from Starling “No..” Anikka backed away and turned, running. She looked back, she wished she hadn't. Josephine was standing there with tears in her eyes. It broke her heart to see her cry, but she kept running.

I have always loved writing, even if it can be challenging sometimes but that has never stopped me. I have always wanted to be an author. Many of my books take topics people are afraid to talk about, so I put that topic in my writing.
