Jerry knew that he shouldn’t. That if he did this, he would be breaking a promise to Carrie. That in the end, he would be hurting himself too. But right now, Jerry could only think in the short term. And he needed to get into that room.
No matter what.
Jerry breathed deeply as he looked at the locked door in front of him. He hadn’t done anything like this since his younger years, but the lock was a simple one. It shouldn’t be a problem. Jerry looked around one more time before he knelt and brought a toothpick out of his pocket. He then twisted the doorknob before putting the toothpick into the small hole. After a brief second of poking around, he felt some pressure and pushed against it. The pantry door instantly gave way and Jerry smiled when he saw the rich treasures inside.
Jerry darted inside but just as he grabbed one of the goods, he heard his wife’s voice.
“Jerry! You promised you would go on a diet!”
Knowing that the end was near, Jerry stuffed a Swiss roll into his mouth.
“But I’m hungry!” His wife just sprayed him with water for his protest.
