There weren’t always dragons in the Valley, then again isn’t a valley it’s Insulium Ex Future.

I may act like I have confidence, but I don’t. It’s always been hard for me to let my guard down. I’ve never known what it was like to be a daddy’s girl, then again, I can’t miss something I never had.

It’s the middle of the afternoon, the last class of Home-schooling, learning the basis of what it means to be a witch.

Today, I will complete my home-schooling to prepare me for Beaumont Academy of Magic.

“Oh my god, I am so proud of you, my little magical prodigy. Ronnie, we just got your acceptance letter.”

When my Mum spoke these words, it made me so happy that I had been accepted. I am so nervous all I have ever wanted is to fit in. I’ve always been the lonely sort. Then again, I could be surrounded by a crowd of people and still feel lonely.

Maybe it is time to accept that I am forever going to be alone. Okay maybe not alone but still with my best friend Alina I know anything is possible. Maybe I am being very dramatic, but sometimes it can be exhausting. My witchy life is very typical. Just once would I want to change everything around.

I had no idea what I was asking for.

The universe, the magic, and nature are all connected to these things.

“Ronnie, this is great news! We should make sure you don’t need any supplies from the village.”

When my mom checks the acceptance letter into this academy that is quite an honor. I watch her blow hot air on it, underneath the letter there is a palimpsest message within it.

“Only a skilful witch, a parent of the child accepted into Beaumont Academy, can access the message, daughter.” She always sounds so serious while performing a spell.

The message showed her all of the things I would need at the academy.

Call Alina to see if she has any words of wisdom?

Although I am happy with this wonderful news, something deeply troubles me about how I would be surrounded by different creatures, something I never experienced before.

I’ve always been afraid of change, and doing things outside my comfort zone. My Mum formed the Council to be a new form of government making sure our world lives in a democracy that is the most wonderful thing.

Time works differently, Insulium Ex Future is an isle which separates from the mortal world. No one knows of the isle’s enchantment. With little hope of mortals finding us, and the option of leaving the isle to all creatures, anything is possible.

I strut into my bedroom picking up my phone calling my best friend. Before I could use my keypad to click on contacts, she called me screaming in my ear.

“The hell, Alina!” I sound alarmed by her screaming.

“I just got accepted into Beaumont Academy. Did you?”

“Yes, I did.” I wanted to sound excited, but I was annoyed.

Beaumont Academy is a great boarding school for all creatures who come of age to learn about the craft, other studies for different areas.

It’s an excellent opportunity, I’m ecstatic to be honest it just feels like something is missing. I just couldn’t put my finger on it.

“Well, we must celebrate at the beach, Ronnie.” Alina said her excitement was full of joy.

The joyous moment for me is great, I try to think about something else.

“Yes, let’s go to the beach to celebrate.” I talk to her on the phone.

When I hear my mom shout for me, I say my goodbyes to Alina, and rush to my Mom’s aid.

“Mom, what is it?”

Watching as Mom looks at a card, “It’s nothing honey,” her voice is shaky.

She seemed pretty alarmed, when I noticed this, I wanted to help her. But I knew this is one thing I couldn’t help with.

I rushed back to my room pulling out my phone to text her.

Meet me at Lux in Litore.

The end of the summer beach part for all of the home-schooled kids will be the best feeling of them all. Knowing how much I’ve accomplished.

I have a new goal that I made Samhain, you will put yourself out there and task healthy risks.

As time goes by, the party beckons to me. I told myself I would take a chance to have fun. I walk over to Alina’s house where we prepared to be fashionable late.

“Ah! We are going to be late, hurry up, Ronnie!!” Alina shouted from downstairs.

“Just go, I’ll meet you there okay!” I shouted feeling so nervous and outside my comfort zone.

Alina walks fast to my side, encouraging me to come with her more likely to push me.

As she drags me to parties to push me to connect with someone, anyone! That’s what makes me love her, she pushes me outside my safe place.

Mom loves Alina, she always pushes me…

When we arrive at the party everyone is dancing, eating, talking everything you would expect from a party.

The last time I went to something so wonderful was when I saw Tarren’s Full Moon Gathering. Mom made sure that I met him, and his family. The most prominent Lupus pack members, and his dad is a Council member.

I’ve been good mates with Tarren, for as long as I can remember. I’ve been studying so hard to become the wonder my Mum always considered me to be, a great witch.

As I walked downstairs heading out quickly to the beach in the distance, I saw Tarren hanging out with pals from his pack.

Alina gives me the load down on everything that’s happened at the party so far. I didn’t really care to be honest.

When we noticed each other on the other side of the beach our eyes locked on each other. Tarren had become so handsome, then again, the fella had always been gorgeous. Why couldn’t I find the nerve to tell him this?

“Still have a thing for him, dear, don’t ya?”Alina stares at me from the corner of her eye.

“It’s that obvious?”

“Oh yeah it is, girl.”

As I saw him with his pals goofing around with the girls tossing them into the ocean in an attempt to play with them.

As the party carries on, I couldn’t stand the fact that Tarren is speaking to Gemma. This makes me extremely excited to share with him how I truly feel now. God how could I be so stupid, Gemma is probably his mated girl. God how could I do this to myself.

As I attempt to make those few strides over in his direction my heart is full of doubts as my body says don’t do it. Run away from him, don’t become attached, but it was too late! I am tired of feeling these negative emotions.

Okay you have to do this for you, this is outside your comfort zone you got this, just walk up to him say hi.

My approach was direct and I knew I had to do this for me.

“Hi Tarren,” I could feel the twitch in my stomach.

“Hi Ronnie, been so long you must come around more love?” His words were sincere, and direct.

I didn’t know what to say. My eyes look up and down his body. God he has turned into quite the mature lupos.

Oh god, I knew it I could feel it.

I wonder if he could feel it too.

“Ronnie, can I come over to your house tonight? Maybe stay with you like we used to do.” He grins.

I chew on my bottom lip and nod, “Sure, I will check with my mom and text you. She would say no because it’s a school night. She will be taking me to Beaumont Academy of Magic tomorrow.”

As his nod of disappointment rolls around in my mind I respond quickly, “But I can sneak you inside, know problems.”

Fun story! Some of the Latin isn't quite right, but good enough for it's purpose I suppose :P

  • Loved the glossary and the almost scratched lead image. Really enjoyed it.
