The Door That Appeared at 3:03 A.M.
Ethan never believed in the supernatural.
Ghosts, demons, cursed objects—he considered them nothing more than stories people told to explain things they didn't understand.
That belief lasted until Apartment 407.
The apartment was cheap.
Suspiciously cheap.
Located on the seventh floor of an old building in Chicago, it cost nearly half the price of similar apartments nearby.
When Ethan asked why, the landlord simply shrugged.
"People don't stay long."
That should have been a warning.
Instead, Ethan signed the lease.
The first week was normal.
The apartment was small but comfortable.
The neighbors were quiet.
Everything seemed perfect.
Then he woke up at exactly 3:03 A.M.
No nightmare.
No strange noise.
Just awake.
Suddenly.
As if someone had shaken him.
He checked his phone.
3:03 A.M.
Annoyed, he rolled over and returned to sleep.
The next night, it happened again.
3:03 A.M.
Eyes open.
Heart racing.
No explanation.
The same thing happened on the third night.
And the fourth.
And the fifth.
Always 3:03.
Never a minute earlier.
Never a minute later.
After two weeks, Ethan stopped finding it funny.
Something felt wrong.
Then he noticed the door.
It appeared in the hallway.
A black wooden door.
At first he thought he was imagining things.
The hallway outside his apartment had always contained four doors.
Now there were five.
The new door stood at the far end beneath a flickering light.
No apartment number.
No handle.
Just black wood.
Ethan frowned.
How had he never noticed it before?
The next morning, it was gone.
The wall was normal again.
No trace of any door.
That night he woke once more.
3:03 A.M.
His bedroom felt colder than usual.
The air seemed heavy.
Then he heard something.
Knocking.
Three slow knocks.
Coming from the hallway.
Knock.
Knock.
Knock.
Ethan forced himself out of bed.
He opened his apartment door.
The hallway was empty.
Except for the black door.
It had returned.
Standing silently at the far end.
His mouth went dry.
The knocking came again.
This time from the other side of the door.
Knock.
Knock.
Knock.
Then a voice whispered:
"Ethan..."
He slammed his apartment door and locked it.
The voice continued.
Soft.
Patient.
"Open it."
He didn't sleep for the rest of the night.
The next morning he asked his neighbors about the door.
Every single one reacted strangely.
Some refused to answer.
Others simply walked away.
One old woman finally spoke.
Her face pale.
"Don't look at it."
"What?"
"The door."
"What is it?"
The woman crossed herself.
"Nobody knows."
Then she left.
Three days later she disappeared.
No moving truck.
No goodbye.
Gone.
As if she had never existed.
That night Ethan searched the building records.
What he found terrified him.
Over the past thirty years, twenty-seven tenants had vanished from the building.
Every single disappearance occurred at 3:03 A.M.
Every single victim lived on the seventh floor.
Every single one reported seeing a black door before disappearing.
Ethan's hands shook.
This couldn't be real.
There had to be an explanation.
Yet deep inside he already knew the truth.
The next night he prepared himself.
Coffee.
Flashlight.
Camera.
He would stay awake.
He would find out what was happening.
At 3:03 A.M., the lights went out.
Every light.
Every room.
Darkness swallowed the apartment.
Then came the knocking.
Knock.
Knock.
Knock.
The hallway door.
The black door.
Waiting.
Ethan stepped outside.
The hallway stretched before him.
Silent.
Empty.
Except for the door.
This time it was different.
It stood slightly open.
A thin crack of darkness visible beyond it.
His camera suddenly turned itself on.
The screen displayed only static.
Then words appeared.
DO NOT ENTER.
Ethan backed away.
The door slowly opened wider.
A cold wind emerged from inside.
The darkness beyond wasn't a room.
It wasn't even a hallway.
It looked endless.
Like a void.
Then he saw movement.
Figures.
Hundreds of them.
Standing inside the darkness.
Watching him.
Their eyes glowed faintly.
Their faces expressionless.
One stepped forward.
A man.
Then another.
A woman.
Then another.
A child.
Ethan realized something horrifying.
These were the missing tenants.
All twenty-seven of them.
Standing silently beyond the doorway.
Unable to leave.
Suddenly one of them raised a finger.
Pointing behind Ethan.
He turned.
And nearly screamed.
A figure stood at the opposite end of the hallway.
Tall.
Unnaturally tall.
Its head almost touched the ceiling.
Its face hidden beneath shadow.
It began walking toward him.
Slowly.
Each step produced a wet cracking sound.
The hallway lights flickered.
The figure kept coming.
Closer.
Closer.
Then the missing tenants began screaming.
Not in fear.
In warning.
"RUN!"
Ethan ran.
The creature followed.
The hallway stretched impossibly long.
His apartment seemed farther away with every step.
The creature never hurried.
It simply walked.
And somehow gained ground.
A hand touched Ethan's shoulder.
Ice cold.
He screamed.
The black door suddenly slammed shut.
The hallway returned to normal.
The creature vanished.
Everything vanished.
Only silence remained.
The next morning Ethan moved out.
Immediately.
He never returned.
Months later, curiosity brought him back.
The building was gone.
Demolished after a mysterious fire.
Nothing remained except rubble.
As he stared at the ruins, his phone vibrated.
A notification appeared.
Unknown Number.
One new message.
Three words.
"The door moved."
Attached was a photograph.
A black door.
Standing in the hallway of Ethan's new apartment building.
