WOW — the fashion show went really well and we have so many bookings, which will take us through to next Summer!!! Julie made me proud, she really surprised me, she has definitely been doing her homework. All in all, the show was a mega success and I am so pleased. No more worrying — the Fashion House is looking after Itself.

So, Jack's father is still keen for us to move in with him, into the Big House, and do our share of looking after the Estate. Jack has already started helping but he is travelling to and fro now, so we have decided to move in (temporary-like) next week, and while Jack’s father is alive, we’ll stay like for 3 weeks, then go home for like a week, then go back for another 3 weeks, etc, etc. We’ll just see how it goes. His father is quite well physically but he is in his eighties now, so we really should be helping him. We’ve set the date for next Monday, so we’ll just see how it all goes. Mum wants to come and stay at the Big House, and help, and I can’t see a problem with that so —-.

I could not believe my eyes when I read Lay May’s email — she’s having a baby!!! Oh how wonderful. They were trying for a long time but now that she is (like me) going through the menopause, we all thought that was that. But oh boy, what a surprise, almost a shock for all of us. I’ve got to be honest, I have promised to help her. May’s been good in helping me through all of this, so I really think she deserves some help back. A new mum, at 50, can anyone imagine it? She’s a bit nervous about the birth (like any new mother), but I’ve promised to help her through it all, as much as I can. I remember my first and I was soooo nervous, but I was lucky and didn’t have any problems, but I was twenty-one — a little different to 50! I’m going to go with May to a few of her hospital appointments because her husband can’t make all of them, being in Parliament and a Lord, but I’m sure there will be no problems because she’s kept herself so healthy. I only wish I was half as healthy!

So, at last, Jake has taken his exams and thinks he’s done well. We’re having him move in with us, so he’ll be seeing his grandfather quite a bit more. They do seem to get on well (which I’m pleased about), and Jake ‘seems’ interested in the Estate. I guess we’ll really see just how much when we all ‘move in’ on Monday. Jake can actually ride so I might be taking lessons from my own son. They are beautiful horses!!!

I’m going to be looking at some of the charities that Jack’s mother ‘looked after’ when she was alive, and see which ones I feel I can help with. I believe it’s a case of visiting them and supporting their charity work, which sounds really interesting actually. I like the sound of helping the unborn and newly born ones, and of course, the cat charity (I love cats!!!). I want to read up about them and learn and understand their work, so that I can understand how to best them. I must admit, Jack’s mother’s diaries are really interesting, she was a busy lady and not just in the Big House or the Estate. I’m also going to talk to the housekeeper later on today, on the phone, so that will help.

I’m not in so much of a ‘whirl’ like I was before. My mind is settling down and everything is starting to make sense. I’m certainly going to give it my all. It is a beautiful house.

John has decided to go into Private Medicine, and I think he’ll be a good doctor. His new girlfriend is lovely, we all had dinner last night, and she is nice and quiet for him. I think she’ll be a steady influence on John. Susan is also a qualified doctor, a GP, so they do have so much in common. There was talk of getting married — we’ll see — they seem so young. But there again, Jack and I were only 18 when we got married, so — anything‘s possible. It’s just that Jack and I knew each other for a long time before moving in together. John and Susan have only been together 5 months. But they are certainly in love.

Next time Diary, it’s time for me to go back to work.
