Julie and I have arrived safely in Paris for the Bridal Fashion Show. What a beautiful place! The hotel is lovely, old fashioned — I’d say Victorian in style — and because the company are paying, we’ve got a really lovely shared bedroom, ensuite bathroom and sitting room (although why as we’ll never use it), Sarah booked the same hotel for her and her fiance, two door away from us, so we’re going to have breakfast and dinner together. Plus, there are three mornings free during the week and Julie and I will be doing some sight-seeing. I’ve been to Paris before but Julie hasn’t, so she is very excited. I’m going to keep her close. Jack and I will phone either early morning or late evening.

Jack is sorting out his headmaster duties at the school and working out how to divide his time between the Estate and the school. I don’t envy him!!! Mum is looking after our youngest and our eldest is staying with Jack at our new home. I’m glad because it will give them time to catch up and talk — almost man to man now — how time flies.

The dresses came with us on the private plane, the models are arriving this afternoon and it’s all getting set up. I’m going over there in about half an hour to see how it’s all going. Sarah has booked in and gone straight over there. I just wanted to calm Julie down a bit before work — she is too excited!

The new designs are beautiful, and in not just white but pastel colours, reds and blacks. This year we’ve done something really different and are going to kind of ‘stage a show’ with music and a few ‘easy’ dance moves. The models were quite impressed during rehearsals so they are keen. The catalogues have been printed very tastefully and the photos have come out really professionally, I think we’ll do well this year. A few Bridal Boutiques back home have asked for the new designs, I’m wondering how difficult it would be to bring them into Paris Bridal Boutiques. At least I can speak French, almost like a native, mum insisted I take it up at Secondary School and I’m glad I did now. Julie can speak French (quite well), she’s talking about having French lessons, I’m sure we can do that when we get back home.

Sarah wants one of the new designs for her wedding dress. I told her to choose what she wants and we’ll make it a wedding gift for her. She is so slim and with her lovely long hair — she will look beautiful!!!

I would have liked real swans at the show but it just isn’t practical but the china ones are beautiful. At least we’ve got real flowers — white roses and carnations — the smell will be divine. We’re going to take the models out for a special dinner on the last night. They do work hard and will deserve a real treat. Can we have our own models I wonder? Will it be cheaper? We could use them to model wedding dresses for clients. I’ll ask Sarah about it, she usually has some good ideas.

We’ve all got new dresses for the shows and I put some of my own personal money into it. I believe we’ll get some good business from this.

I’m getting the texts that everyone is arriving now — the photographers, models, stagers, etc, etc. — so — it’s coming along nicely. I feel a little nervous because I want it to be such a success but I know it will be.

Right, had a shower, dressed smart, now let’s go over to the event and see how things are getting along. Julie looks very smart in her new trouser suit, I think she’s trying to out-style me, good for her. We’re going to have some lunch at one of the little cafes near so that will be nice, it’s all new experiences for Julie.

Here we go Diary !!!
