The Descendant of Gaia
Doomsday Diary About Earth’s Heart
Now, it was all up to me. As blood-thirsty demons were roaming our beloved planet Earth, I had the option to either let these hellish creatures devour humankind. However, my second option was to destroy every single human being and the malevolent, malicious demons. I must say – that option was highly tempting. Either way, every person would die. The humans would be no more…for now, perhaps.
As I was looking at this beautiful blue heart-shaped pendant, I wondered what the world would be like without humans. The pendant had a glowing green gem in the center that could charm any living being. My mother, Gaia, granted me the pendant and made me the keeper of Earth’s destiny. As the last daughter of the Goddess of Earth, I had a huge responsibility to make a crucial decision, and it would be my decision based on how I felt this planet should become.
The animals and plants would survive of course, but the idea of slowly bringing humanity back was untasteful. I always had compassion for nature. It made sense why the forests, the sea, and the wild jungles fascinated me from the very beginning. I could destroy every single living organism if I chose. However, that was never be an option for me to even consider. I always had strong compassion for anything living. All breeds were born innocent. However, humans had the choice to destroy our planet whether it was consciously or unconsciously. Animals always followed their natural instincts whether they were gentle or vicious. They could be horses, birds, cats, dogs, rats, tigers, elephants, or even slithering, poisonous snakes. They all deserved to live more than the humans on Earth.
I never knew that power would ever be in my hands. For the first twenty-one years of my life, I never knew that I was the daughter of Gaia. Who would ever thought that the Goddess of this planet ran in my veins? I never did. My father was a single dad. I never knew who my mother was at the time. My father was definitely a good man. He had compassion for humanity and animals. He was a peaceful soul. He would go above and beyond to bring a smile on a person’s face. One time, he saved a young man from committing suicide. This individual was seconds away from jumping off a two-foot building in California. My loving father appeared and poured out some kind words to him and encouraged him to give his own life another chance. One time, my father saved a young woman from a running river in Africa. He knew the possibility of falling into a deep waterfall, but my father jumped into the river and saved the woman anyway. He risked his life to save this stranger. Even though my father would save any human being, he had more compassion for animals than for humans. He refused to eat meat. He proudly chose to be a vegan because he loved animals so much. By the time I celebrated my twenty-first birthday, my father revealed to me the truth about my past and my bloodline. He fell in love with a woman and mated with her. That woman was Gaia. My mother chose him as the father of her child because of his purity. My father saw the powers she possessed, and he was flabbergasted. After I was born, my mother left me so my father could raise me on his own. She also left behind this powerful pendant I spoke of earlier. My father told me everything about the pendant and that I had the power to cleanse this world when the time was right.
Sadly, my father was killed during a robbery. Four men broke into our home two days after my twenty-first birthday. I was at the bookstore, browsing for Vegan cookbooks. When I returned home, it was a total mess. Our furniture in the living room were torn into pieces. Cabinets in the living room and dining room were broken into. As soon as I entered the kitchen, my heart immediately dropped. I saw my father lifeless on the kitchen floor, and he was lying in a pool of his own blood. He was shot in the head. As I held my father’s lifeless body in my arms, I could hear sirens outside my house. I knew that the cops arrived. I found out that one of our neighbors witnessed four men exiting the house. They were carrying bags and boxes to a white van and drove off. The neighbor knew that it was a robbery and immediately called the cops. It was bad enough that these heartless men broke into our home and collected money and valuables out of selfishness. But did they have to murder an innocent man? I became severely depressed shortly after that horrid experience of losing a great man I knew all my life.
I actually noticed something. At the dawn of my depression, demons were slowly emerging on Earth. As my depression prolonged, the number of demons became greater. More and more people were being attacked and destroyed by demons. I could not stop being depressed over the death of my father. As a result, the demons continued to terminate the humans. It took six months for the demons to destroy over half of the Earth’s population. There was a part of me who felt bad for humankind. However, there was another part of me who was satisfied for what the demons were doing.
Six months after my father’s death, I was ready to make a final decision. As I was raising this pendant closer to my eyes, I knew that all I had to do was destroy it, and the humans and demons would disappear. All I had to do was break it with my bare hand. No one else was capable of breaking this even if they tried to beat it with a heavy sledgehammer. No one else had that power but me. All it took was for me to squeeze the pendant in my hand. This pendant was the heart of the Earth, and after being destroyed, everything but the animals and plants would die. As gorgeous it was, I did not wish to destroy this heart. I did not wish to eliminate this beauty. It would break my heart. However, I wondered if it would be for the best. Many people have done evil deeds to our planet – from animal cruelty to killing innocent people. They have polluted the environment and performed selfish acts. True, not all humans did these immoral deeds. But maybe they were suffering as they were surrounded by those who committed these crimes. If I did not break this enchanted heart, there was a chance for humans to survive the chaos that these demons were unleashing. There was a possibility that the existence of humans could continue for a few more years or even centuries. Then again, I did not want my planet to be infested with evil entities from below. I knew that this planet would start fresh after the cleanse. There would still be animals, trees, and plants. And I would be the only human left. Well, maybe not human but more-so a demi-god. Besides, I had the power to bring humans back to existence little by little – a few at a time. Like I said – start fresh.
I closed my eyes for a few seconds and took a deep breath. As my smile slowly emerged, I opened my eyes. “I have decided. I know what must be done.” I clenched on the pendant and could hear the breakage from my hand. “It is done.”
