Q

Meg woke up to the burning/reverberating twinges between her toes. She had not slept well, pain had made her restless and her bones ached. Slowly, she unrolled the bandages from her feet, wincing as the blisters clung, leaving tiny pieces of scab between skin and fabric.

Being lead dancer in the 'Ballet Rosseau', hurt. Still...Charlotte would kill for the lead role. The scouts would all be there, greater things awaited.

Opening night. Meg danced. First position, second, third, on she danced, through the pain, tiny hints of blood seeping through her soft, satin demi-pointe...dancing...shoes.

Standing...Ovation...Pain...Tears...Who...needed...perfect...toes...anyway?..Fame...and ...glory...awaited. BUT!!!!!!

Novel this was an amazing story! They say it isn't true art of the artist doesn't suffer for it! This is a great story about that and you captured the feeling so well in such a small word count! Nicely done!

And yet, still a smile bolted on! Like a Swan, serene on the surface, but underneath such a contrast

  • No pain, no gain but some take this too literally. But if they're doing it without being forced by someone, we gotta respect that dedication and passion. Awesome story, Novlet!
