Once upon a time, there was a proud and powerful sphinx, who lived in a desolate plain in the heart of the ancient world. It was known to ask riddles to anyone who crossed its path and those who couldn't solve the riddle were doomed to be devoured by the sphinx. The people of the ancient world lived in fear of the monster, and it was considered to be an unstoppable force of evil.

One day, a young man named Oedipus entered the desolate plain. He was a brave warrior and was determined to put an end to the sphinx's reign of terror. He approached the monster, and it asked him its riddle. Oedipus was no ordinary man, and he solved the riddle with ease. The sphinx was so impressed by Oedipus's intelligence that it granted him its power, and it gave him the gift of prophecy.

With the power of prophecy, Oedipus was able to help the people of the ancient world, and he became a beloved hero. He was respected and loved by all who lived in the ancient world, and his power grew even greater. He was confident in his abilities and thought that he was invincible.

However, as time went by, Oedipus's power began to corrupt him. He became arrogant and overconfident, and he began to abuse his gift. The people of the ancient world began to fear him, and they whispered about the sphinx and its terrible curse. They warned Oedipus that he was playing with fire and that his power would ultimately be his undoing.

Oedipus was too blind to see the danger, and he continued to use his power for evil. He began to make enemies, and one day, he was challenged by a powerful sorceress named Jocasta. Jocasta was determined to bring down Oedipus and put an end to his tyranny.

Jocasta and Oedipus fought a fierce battle, and in the end, Jocasta emerged victorious. She banished Oedipus from the ancient world, and he was forced to wander the world in search of redemption. He eventually found redemption in a small village, where he lived out the rest of his days, but the legacy of the sphinx and its curse lived on.

Years went by, and the story of Oedipus and the sphinx was all but forgotten. But the people of the ancient world still whispered about the monster, and they warned their children to never cross its path. The sphinx continued to ask riddles, and it continued to devour those who could not solve its puzzles.

In the end, the sphinx's power proved to be its downfall. It was defeated by a young warrior, who solved its riddle and claimed its power for himself. However, like Oedipus, the warrior soon realized that power came at a heavy price. He was consumed by his own arrogance, and he became a monster just like the sphinx.

The sphinx's curse had claimed another victim, and the cycle of power and betrayal continued. The people of the ancient world learned that wisdom was more valuable than power, and they warned their children to always choose wisdom over power.
