I bought the clock at a thrift store for two dollars.

It ticked backwards — I thought it was broken, but I kept it anyway.

Every morning, I’d glance at it while rushing through my routine, wishing I could slow time.

One day, it stopped completely.

For the first time in weeks, I just sat still — coffee warm, window open, no rush.

That’s when I realized: the clock wasn’t broken. I was.

So I left it unwound, a reminder that time doesn’t have to run forward to move you.
