The Clever Monkey and the Deceitful Crocodile: A Tale of Wit and Friendship"
Wit Over Power: The Monkey’s Clever Escape from the Crocodile’s Trap

This story is taken from the ancient Indian text Panchatantra, written by Vishnu Sharma over 2,300 years ago. Known for teaching valuable life lessons through engaging characters, Panchatantra uses wisdom, strategy, and wit to help rulers understand human nature and make wise decisions.
Once upon a time, a wise monkey lived in a large tree by a river. The tree was loaded with luscious, sweet fruits, and the monkey ate them every day. He was cheerful, but lonely because he had no friends to chat to.
One day, a hungry crocodile approached the river near the tree. He appeared exhausted and feeble. The kind monkey noticed him and said, "Hello! You appear quite hungry. Would you like any fruits? The crocodile nodded excitedly. The monkey picked some fruit and threw it down. The crocodile felt better after eating them. "These are incredibly tasty! "Thank you," the crocodile said. The monkey grinned. "Come here whenever you are hungry," he joked. From that day forward, the monkey and the crocodile were close friends.
Every day, the monkey would give him fruits, and they would converse and laugh. One day, the crocodile told his wife about the monkey and the tasty fruits. The crocodile's wife got jealous. She said, "If the fruits are so delicious, imagine how sweet the monkey's heart must be!" Bring me his heart. "I want to eat it." The crocodile was shocked. "How can I do that?" "He is my friend," he said. But his wife wouldn't listen. Finally, the crocodile chose to mislead the monkey.
The next day, the crocodile approached the tree and stated, "My wife enjoyed the fruits you gave me. She wants to meet you. "Please come to our house!" The monkey was excited. "I'd love to meet her!" he exclaimed. He climbed on the crocodile's back, and they began crossing the river. When they were in the middle of the river, the crocodile stopped and said, “My friend, I have to tell you something. My wife doesn’t just want to meet you. She wants to eat your heart!” The monkey was shocked but stayed calm. He quickly thought of a clever plan. He said, “Oh no! I left my heart on the tree. Let’s go back and get it.” The foolish crocodile believed the monkey and turned back to the tree. As soon as they reached the tree, the monkey jumped off the crocodile’s back and climbed to the top. The monkey laughed and said, “You tricked me, but I’m smarter than you! Go home and tell your wife she won’t get my heart!” The crocodile felt ashamed and swam away. The monkey was safe and learned to be careful about whom to trust. Moral: Stay calm in danger and use your brain to solve problems. Be careful whom you trust
