The Call

The Call

It was a dark and stormy night. Lisa was home alone, watching a horror movie on Netflix. She loved to scare herself with these movies, even though she knew they were not real. She was so engrossed in the movie that she didn't hear her phone ring. She only noticed it when she saw a missed call notification on the screen. She picked up her phone and saw that it was from an unknown number. She shrugged and decided to ignore it. She resumed the movie and tried to forget about the call.

A few minutes later, her phone rang again. It was the same unknown number. Lisa felt a twinge of curiosity and annoyance. Who was calling her at this hour? And why didn't they leave a message? She decided to answer the call and find out.

"Hello?" she said.

There was no reply. Only silence.

"Hello? Who is this?" she repeated.

Still no reply. Only silence.

Lisa felt a chill run down her spine. She checked the caller ID again. It said "Unknown".

She was about to hang up when she heard a faint whisper.

"Help me..."

Lisa gasped. The voice sounded like a young girl, terrified and in pain.

"Who are you? Where are you?" Lisa asked, feeling a surge of fear and pity.

"Help me...please..." the voice whispered again.

Lisa felt her heart pounding in her chest. She looked around her living room, feeling suddenly exposed and vulnerable. She wished she had someone with her, someone to protect her and comfort her.

"Where are you? How can I help you?" she asked again, trying to sound calm and brave.

The voice whispered one more word before the line went dead.

"Behind you..."
