He never would have thought his dreams were real. In his sleep and in waking moments, he believed that his dreams were figments of exaggerated imagination--ones that stem from his deep sense of lonlieness and the yearning to to escape from his life. In those dreams, he saw worlds beyond his own--veils being lifted before his eyes, revealing to him of their existence. Stars that that would twinkle brighter, the closer he got, immersing him in the fantastical he sadly for a brief time visited.

Its five am on a Tuesday morning, and all Nick hears is the steady beat of his heart. Sitting on his bed and staring at the light blue that is of the morning sky. The silence almost true except the chirping of the birds and chuff of the squirrels climbing the trees near his window. Already dressed for school-- wearing his grey hoodie, dark denim pants and black shoes that he will need to get new shoes as he his growing out the current ones. Waiting for his mom to wake up, as she normally works the late night shift as the hospital in the city. As the sound of the birds, squirrels and his heart, Nick eyes slowly go vacant, and the sounds all together disappeared, making him go into a trance, where all he sees is black and millions of stars twinkinling right before him. The Next day after school while on his way home, he saw something that he thought was imaginary. A man in casual wear, but a blue flame hovering over his hand. Nick had to rub his eyes twice, thinking it is all in his head, well particulary his dreams. His heart pounding, skin began feeling clammy a sweat formed on his brow. In all these weird dreams hes been having, he had no idea that one of them( this one the most frequent, recurring dream) would become reality.

On the porch stargazing, when a door open... Nick's nerves were already soothing. It was his mom who came out---in the presence of his mom, Nick always felt unnervingly calm, as though she had some special ability to calm those around her. Whatever emotions he was feeling all shifted into a weird total calmness. Looking at her, he knew that he got most of his looks from her. Her olive skin which was on the darker side, high cheekbones that most envy, hair that is black as the night sky, lips that were full and at the moment shaded a deep red, and eyes the color of honey behind her black frame glasses. "What are you doing out here in this cold?" His mom asks wrapping shawl around her tighter. Nick feels a strange energy emanating from his mom, one that prick and tingle his skin. " Oh just stargazing, the stars today seem more brighter today dont you think", he answered back. " Yeah, I do", she turns to look up, and big smile forms on her face, while her glasses reflect the stars. Nick glances away from his stargazing and looks at his mom. For the first time in a long time, he sees joy. After the divorce, he gradually saw the happiness drain away from her. The lips that used to smile everyday became frowns, her eyes that would glow from some type of emotion or energy he could not explain, lost their brightness, a sparkle. But today he truly sees content on her face, and that makes Nick's heart jump in elation. "Mom". "Yeah". Nick wants to tell her, but he worries that she would think he his is crazy or unwell. " I, have something to tell you", he says with hesitation. His mom face towards him, the smile still there, but in the eyes he can see worry. " What it is Nick, that you have to tell me." " I have been seeing worlds with people not of this world-- some that wield blue flames or the elements, others where its just animals but, they talk!", Nick blurted. Scanning her face, Nick saw no surprise or concern...just nothing. " This is happening a lot sooner than I thought", his mom murmured, craning her head down. Those words--- his heart began to pound faster, his breathing accelerated, taking huge gulps of air. "What is happening a lot sooner than you think", Nick repeated his mom's words. She lifts up her head and stares at Nick and tells him, "Nick, honey you are a Dream Seer."
