Drabble Drop : Soliloquize

Frantic is as frantic does. I’m sure it makes time speed up.

I’m late for work and I’ve lost my car keys. Yep, frantic is as frantic does.

Furiously flinging couch cushions, dislodging floor mats and scattering paperwork.

"Dear me," I soliloquize, while the contents of my bureau drawers are tossed here and there in the fever of my search.

Nada!

I rush to the kitchen and stop; giggling in pure mirth.

Sammy, my cocker spaniel, lays upon the kitchen floor gazing innocently up at me, car keys hidden beneath one paw. I’m guessing he doesn’t want me to leave!

I was challenged to write a drabble of the word ‘Soliloquize'.

Wikipedia defines a drabble as follows :

A drabble is a short work of fiction of precisely one hundred words in length. The purpose of the drabble is brevity, testing the author's ability to express interesting and meaningful ideas in a confined space.

My first love is poetry — it’s like a desperate need to write, to free up space in my mind, to escape the constant noise in my head. Most of the time the poems write themselves — I’m just the conduit holding the metaphorical pen.

😊👏A good exploration of being in a frantic state Colleen! 😆 We’ve all been there. Except I didn’t have a mischievous dog.
