It was a dark and stormy night. Phillip had been driving home from work, and was now about an hour away from his house. He had made it the last few miles, but was now in the throes of a full-blown panic attack. His breaths came in short gasps and his heart was pounding so hard, it felt like it was trying to escape his chest. He pulled to the side of the road, scattering gravel, and tried to calm himself. He closed his eyes and took several deep breaths before starting the car. He crept along the road, his car the only light in a wide and dark world.

The rain continued to beat against the windshield like the footsteps of some unseen thing. Phillip's mind raced with paranoid thoughts and he had to force himself to focus on the road. He finally saw the lights of his neighborhood up ahead and he let out a sigh of relief. He turned onto his street and slowly made his way to his house.

He parked in the driveway and sat for a moment, gathering his courage before getting out of the car. He ran to the door and fumbled with his keys before finally getting inside. He slammed the door shut behind him and leaned against it, panting. It felt like forever, but he finally calmed down enough to take off his wet coat and shoes. He hung up his coat and put his shoes in the closet before making his way upstairs to bed.

He crawled into bed fully clothed and lay there, staring at the ceiling. His mind wouldn't stop racing and he felt like he was going crazy. Every time he closed his eyes, he saw horrific images that made him jolt awake again. He knew he wouldn't be able to sleep, but he eventually dozed off from sheer exhaustion.

He awoke sometime later to strange noises coming from downstairs. At first he thought it might be burglars, but then he remembered that he had left all the lights on when he came in. He slowly got out of bed, trying not to make any noise, and crept downstairs. The noises were coming from the kitchen, where someone was rummaging through the fridge.

Phillip carefully made his way into the kitchen and turned on the light.. There was a woman there wearing a white nightgown who looked shocked to see him.. After a moment's confusion Phillip realized that this must be one of those supernatural experiences people sometimes have.. The woman introduced herself as Phillip's guardian angel.. She explained that she had been sent to help him through this tough time in his life..

Phillip wasn't sure what to make of this situation but decided it couldn't hurt anythingto talk things out with her.. They talked for hours about everything that had been bothering him lately.. By morning Phillip felt like a new person.. The sun was shining when he woke up and everything just seemed brighter somehow.. Even though he knew it wasn't really possible he swore.
