“If I died tonight I’d want you to keep on living.”

She’d said it with tears pouring down her cheeks after reading her silly novel, and he laughed heartily at her. Then it happened.

Before anyone expected it, she was gone. Her youth and passion murdered by cancer.

He couldn’t go on.

He anguished over every harsh word he’d ever uttered to her, sobbed over their happiest times, suffered despair that they would never again embrace.

Exploding with anger he contemplated joining her.

He searched for a means and found a note tucked inside her silly novel that read: live.
