LB-1

I pledged my entire life to keep the LB-1 Ship safe from all dangers in the Universe and on the ship. Being a Sentinel Space Guard was the best job anyone could ever had hoped to get. This job is not an easy one; physically demanding, mentally draining, and requires you to see and do some dirty things but you are the most respected person in the community, and everyone looks up to you. All I ever wanted to be when I was little was a Sentinel Space Guard. The first time I heard about them was in my third-grade physics class; we had to start thinking of what courses to take next and those courses would determine what career you were headed to at the end of your high school graduation. I wanted to be like the legendary Sentinel, David Sullivan, who single handedly rescued the refugees of planet Soran from the Multi’s invasion. He didn’t give up, even after he slowly started venting oxygen, he saved every one of those refugees and brought them on board the LB-1.

The LB-1 stands for Lifeboat 1; it is 1 of 5 massive spaceships slowly traveling through space to explore and connect with other alien races and hopefully establish a longing relationship with each race we meet. One trip, in the Horus Galaxy, we stumble on a planet that, from the outside, looked like it was a giant working machine with an atmosphere. History books say the people then could see clouds and weather patterns from space, but also saw the planet itself moving by the help of rockets. Apparently a group of Sentinel Space Guards went in as a convoy to establish some type of communication with the inhabitants, but after an hour and no communication was heard back from them, everyone got suspicious.

The leaders of all 5 Lifeboats assembled a raid team to go in and investigate what happened to them while simultaneously gathering intel on the inhabitants of the planet. 35 men and women of the Sentinel Space Guards mounted up, boarded 3 of our rescue ships, and started heading to the planet. In 10 seconds, 2 out of the 3 ships we annihilated by a massive beam of light. It was a laser weapon coming from the surface of the planet; after destroying those 2 rescue ships it was ready for another shot on taking out the third one. Suddenly the people back then see a massive projection of a face and hear a voice, coming from the planet, and speaking the English language.

“I am Alios, the leader of the Multi people, have you come to pledge loyalty to the Multi Race?!”

We had no answer and nothing to respond with.

“We have hacked the minds of your convoy and have learned to speak your language, you either cooperate now or die later. What is your answer?” Alios asked again.

Again, with no way to respond, each leader of each ship decided to go into Hyperspace before anymore damage could be done, leaving behind the 3rd rescue ship in the process. That was over 20 years ago; I was just 2 years old back then, according to my parents. David Sullivan was 12 years old back then, but once 10 years went passed and he turned 22, he joined the Sentinel Space Guard and took the pledge to lay his life down for the people of LB-1. Just two years pass by when we see the Multi people again; they were enslaving and killing the people of planet Soran for their planet’s rich ore, which we later found out was used to construct their planetary ship.

The Multi people are a massive expansion of drones and droids all controlled by the planet ship’s massive AI. Legend has it that the Multi people and the AI were created by the First Humans, a species of humans that inhabited the planets before us, but when a civil war between two factions broke out on their planet, the AI developed drones to systematically wipe out any trace of another species from the entire planet and then the Universe. When we saw the Multi race conquering and destroying the people of Soran the Sentinel Space Guards leapt into action and sent small groups in to try to rescue as many Soran people they could. We were only able to save 175 people before the Multi people destroyed the planet. Sentinel David was able to save 23 of those people by himself in the final minutes before the planet was destroyed. In those final minutes his rescue ship was coming back with the last batch of refugees, his ship was barely drivable and his cockpit as slowly venting air. In his last moments, to lighten the load of his rescue ship, he put the rescue ship on autopilot, put the boosters on max and jumped from the cockpit.

The rescue ship reached the docking bay of LB-1 but he didn’t, when we had a plan to go save him he radioed into headquarters and told the leaders to fire up the hyperspace and leave before we’d all be killed by the explosion. Reluctantly, we did as he said; he died from the explosion of Planet Soran and as far as we can tell, no one survived. I want to be a Sentinel like him, someone who is not afraid to die for the safety of LB-1, someone who eager to jump into danger and do whatever it takes to rescue another. Luckily, today is the day I start my journey into becoming a Sentinel Space Guard of LB-1; I got my graduation papers and my enlistment papers ready to be signed by my counselor.
