Dumb Heroics
It's 7:55am and I'm definitely late for work. I don't know how time has gotten so away from me. Every morning feels like this. I open my eyes and look up at the same ceiling. I get up, follow the same routine. Wear similar clothes and grab the same bland breakfast.

How does it feel to be loved?
Recently, I stumbled upon a TikTok trend where girls shared slides of their conversations with their loved ones. It began with, “No one could handle your words of affirmation,” and the rest of the images left me teary-eyed, knowing that people out there are loved that much, and some others have a love that is so sincere it defeats.

His muddy shoes, caked with the grime of untrodden paths, rested by the door, with several illegally purchased 5-milligram Percocet pills crushed beneath them. The wind chimes hung motionless today. A shattered vase lay neglected on the floor. Their laughter had once inundated this cozy, dimly lit space. The faded sepia-toned Polaroid of their first vacation together was now crumpled and discarded in the trash.

The Adronaut. Top Story - August 2024.
“I REPEAT, WE ARE ABOUT TO BE BOARDED. ALL GUARDS TO THEIR STATIONS. OVER AND OUT.” The mechanical tone to the man's voice, accentuated by the tannoy system he was talking through, blared through the ship. Not one person on board would have, or could have missed that warning.

Come aboard, and take your seat. I was the new guy and the person training me in told me to put my life jacket on. He didn't tell me that I would need it on the first trip out. And he didn't tell me that if I fell in, he wouldn't be able to help me. Well, he did tell me once I fell in.
