Short Story
The Eternal Forest
The sound of distant screams howled through the forest; the Ilck were eating another nefarious heart. Ilck's used to be sweet creatures; they looked similar to fauns. In the beginning, Ilck would host tea parties and dance through their gardens, welcoming humans to join them in their eternal eutopia. Ilck would maintain the flora and fauna that gave them eternal life, but this would not last, as humanity became greedy and possessive of the Ilck's paradise.

They hired an assassin to kill the man, so that he may be out of the picture, and out of their hair.

Sighs
She could not have been any better, more thoughtful, more helpful, prettier, smarter; she was bound in thoughts of disappointed sighs, disregarded achievements, broken in shreds of compromise, lonely in her discontent. It would never be enough, that is, to just be herself. She would not be rewarded with smiles, praise or unconditional love; she would know the bareness of love over and over again. Yet she kept wanting the comfort of the womb, the strong arms, the reassurance in their voices, the "it's okays", and the "of course you cans!"

The Wall of Wishes
“April 19, 2000 - Elias Creekwood”, he etches neatly into the face of one of my few untouched bricks. Creekwood, I think to myself, smiling on the inside with pride and joy. He sat down in the overgrown mess of grass in front of me with his back pressed against my cold stones, and stared into the setting sun just above the town’s cathedral. I waited silently with anticipation, towering over him, and just as the great Joseph Creekwood had done 25 years before him, he relaxed. With a heaving sigh of relief he leaned his head backwards, resting all his burdens on me. Nestled under my cold shade, he had found solace, just as many others had, including his grandfather. I was known for that. For I was the wall who made sorrow disappear, brought hope to the hopeless, and made wishes come true. I was the Wall of Wishes.
