Guardians and Angels | Chapter Two (Part 8)
His father was standing in his bedroom doorway longer than we realized. He took in everything we were doing with his cold calculating coyote-like eyes; gathering all the details. He knew exactly what he saw. He saw the thunderbolts sparking between us, he smelled our magnetic fields entwining, he heard our heartbeats beating... as one.

Guardians and Angels | Chapter Two (Part 7)
Vanilla, and watermelon, that’s his scent… vanilla soap & watermelon bubblegum (and something else… something all his own) With my eyes still closed, his essence floated before me, his energy sparking against mine, an electric field buzzing and cackling against the razor-wire defenses I wrapped around myself so no one could notice me… but he noticed me. He noticed my armor wasn’t dull chainmail. No, my armor was iridescent fish scales protecting a fire opal heart glistening within me, silver and pink and blue swirls.

Whispers in the Dark
The night was heavy with the silence of forgotten dreams. In the small, sleepy town of Ashbrook, the streets were empty, save for the occasional rustling of leaves that danced along the pavement. The full moon cast its pale glow over the town, bathing the streets in a soft, silvery light. But within the walls of the old St. Mary’s mansion, something far darker stirred.

Black Tipped Gold Chapter 2
The interstate stretched out like a long artery in front of me. I'd spent 3 days pouring over maps for this route. I'd bought four weeks of food and water. I was carrying the leftover bullets in their case on my back. The weight did not feel great with the containers pulling the straps of my harness into my skin. I'd just set up in a bus that was left alone and never come back. Looking through the scope, I searched for anyone who might mean me harm. It dawned on me this was the furthest from the settlement I had ever been.

Black Tipped Gold Chapter 1
I slid the rifle through the open basement window, resting the suppressor on the sill. The ladder I stood on was not necessarily comfortable for shooting but it worked as I got the scope on my target. Prepping to engage the target, the scope picking out my target's face amongst the escort detail bringing my finger to the trigger, I froze. The target was a kid. I could not believe it. 300 black-tipped bullets for this kid, Whoever wanted the kid dead did not care about the ethics of this contract. What else bit at me at that moment was that my contract dealer who set me up with this job and who got the files sent me this job the 2 seconds spent on this quiet self-argument allowed the target to be moved behind a crate.

The Wolf Witch - 4. Becky Simpson
Becky couldn't stop thinking about Oliver. Finding her at the club was one thing, but rescuing her had embarrassed her, so she'd snuck out and taken a cab home. Now, in bed, her eyes closed, Oliver's face shot into view - good-looking, mysterious, and charming. His wavy dark brown hair and piercing blue eyes had dominated her thoughts all night.
