Sci Fi
Sanctioned
1. The brief needle drop signaled that the evening pacification had begun. The hypnotic melody from the loudspeakers spilled far into the courtyard, traveling up the fractured brick walls and into the crammed hallways. The denizen’s ears rapt with the soft and lulling tune as they stood side by side in synthetic delight. Boiled tensions simmered and evaporated in the big melting pot of SEC 11. From grimace to grin the lot were eased… for now.

Brisk
Damn. At this rate I’ll never make it in time. The hollow ring of the sirens rattled me from my thoughts bringing me swiftly back to my icy reality. So cold…always so so cold. I picked up my backpack, stiff and frozen and began to walk as quickly as my near-frostbitten limbs would allow. With my overly numb fingers I felt around my neck for the only thing of value I owned. The black heart-shaped locket my sister gave me before she left or disappeared depending on who you ask.

The Chosen Ones
“Sweet baby girl with a smile as bright as a thousand suns, I bless you with my protection from the hardships you’re going to endure.” A tiny baby with bright blue eyes stared up at her grandfather, with hands flailing as he secured a rose gold heart shaped locket around her neck. “This locket will provide you with an escape whenever you need it the most. I will always be right here.” The grandfather said as he patted the shiny adornment, he had given the baby.

Cracks in the Pleasuredome
It was a blazing hot day in December and the clocks were striking 19:84. "A dystopian fiction contest?" said Word, alone in his designated 5x5 meter iRoom, which heard him, noting his passing interest in science fiction for advertisers, which was likewise recorded in the NSA case file currently monitoring him for potential Bad Vibes against the United States of Every State. "How passé," he said, which the room also noted sent the necessary commands for several backspaces to the NSA. "Besides, what on earth would I write about?"

Errand of Mercy
I arrive at the convoy early. Near the front, I see Peter holding a stranger by the arm. With her long braid and white gown, the girl is clearly a Righteous runaway. She must have brought us the information on the new territory we are about to scavenge.

There it is;
There it is; The silver smoke plume that stumbles up through what they call east. With every rise and fall it appears between the trees. They tell me we cannot go over there, but I've never understood why. A moment passes before I hear the rally coming into the property.

Desert Caravan
Two short unpleasant coughs are heard from outside a beige, rusted and sun stained caravan in a silent land of red desert. Without wheels, the tarnished grey hubs sink into the lose clay earth like anchors of a corrupted ship, scorned from the abandoned embrace of its ocean. *Pshhhhhhhhh* The four tinted, cracked windows quickly fill with dark condensed smoke, seeping through slightly and swirling as it dances with the heated outside air.

Journal of the Starseed
Dear pointless journal, I am so sick of this place it isn’t funny. I still have zero understanding as to why The Universe allowed giant, egotistical, parasites to rise to power over this planet. It could be lovely here, but the inhabitants are an issue. Humans are horrible. Their corrupt nature, piss poor attitudes, and overinflated god complexes are infuriating. My life revolves around doing a bunch of mind numbingly boring shit while I smile and go along with their mind numbingly stupid agendas. It’s strange to exist here, as something you always assumed you would never be; a stain on the galactic landscape. Here I am existing though.

The Magician
“Hi Jane. I am the Magician.” The mid-50s S7 agent sits opposite me, pudgy fingers splaying out in a showman’s waggle. A sweaty face occludes the interrogation lamp hanging directly opposite my side of the room. Beads of sweat are already appearing on a balding forehead, pushing down towards bushy black eyebrows. Round spectacles and a mustache to match his eyebrows sit above an incongruously pleasant and predatory smile. That is S7 intelligence unit of the New Philadelphia Syndicate – enigmatic and dangerous, but also corrupt and indulgent.
