Sci Fi

Of Muse and Men
My dear misled readers, for thousands of years you’ve hero-worshipped writers who have been little more than stenographers and typists. Since storytelling began, you have believed that great and lesser literary ideas are birthed from human imagination and experience by so-called artistic muses which over the millennia have been blithely portrayed as pro forma visitations of creative inspiration, the great Aha!s of human literary invention propelling great characters and their stories to completion in metaphorically mysterious ways.

Being Dead
I wasn’t so much haunting my old neighborhood as loitering. You know, hanging out where you aren’t really wanted—or needed. I was trying not to make a pest of myself, but I’m not entirely sure how being dead works.

Your Life In An Anthro's World
Your vision blurred as you stared at the moon through the shattered skylight you had fallen through. After a few moments, your surroundings sharpened into focus. You were disoriented and unsure of where you were, but then, like a flood, the events of the chase came rushing back. The fire escape, the rooftop, and then, the fall. You glanced down. You were sprawled across a crumpled store shelf. Miraculously, you weren’t seriously injured—just cuts and bruises, but even though they were shallow, they stung all the same.

Oh, my head,” you grunt as you sit up. Looking around, you find yourself in what looks to be New York City. Between Two Worlds
Last week I bought this mirror at a garage sale. It was only two dollars. And since I have gotten it, I’ve deeply regretted it. Since I’ve put it up in my bedroom it hasn’t shown me my actual reflection. This has only shown me a different version of myself each time I look into it.

Tenant. Winner in A Knock at the Door Challenge.
Knock, knock. I came to. Unaware that I had even drifted off. Was that knock real or had I dreamed it? The rain played the evening’s soundtrack. Calm. The clock said twelve, but it always said that. It’d decided who it was.

Fear, unlike anything I’d ever felt, bubbled in the pit of my stomach, clawing savagely at my insides like a ravenous beast.

Gods and Goddesses of The Eidru Empire
There are various pantheons and forms of religion on a planet as giant and disjointed as Fractallus. There are many animal-formed gods, dozens upon dozens of evil and murderous entities, but only the most accepted Gods and Goddesses from the Continent Xeocun and the Eidru Empire are particularly included here. Deities mentioned most frequently in the story have been highlighted in detail.

Not even a whimper. More a muted plastic click. Almost frictionless. And it was sent. Gone. Who would remember? (Even though there was an embarrassing glut of memory these days.) You could store the whole of your life in a quantum chip, but who would want a pica of those bygone analog days.
