"Hombres" Managing "Hambre"
Recently, I had great honor to both participate in and lead a session of a writing retreat for a group of extremely talented and creative students - writers and editors of a college newspaper. The retreat was in an art museum and for my session I had them go out into the museum, take a picture of an artifact (most of them ended up with paintings, but there were a couple of sculptures as well) and write down a short caption for the picture about the artifact or a sentence that would help them later build a story.

DVU's SledgeHammer: The Hunt For Leatherface
Chapter 1: Origins In the bustling city of Gotham, there lived a man named Cameron Ford. By day, he was a mild-mannered private detective, but by night, he transformed into the powerful superhero known as SledgeHammer. Cameron possessed the superhuman abilities of both Superman and Wolverine – strength, invulnerability, rapid healing, and razor-sharp claws. His mission was to protect the innocent and bring justice to those who threatened the peace. Cameron had also come from another universe which is called The Dark Universe where he fought all sorts of demons and vampires in a world without superheroes which led him through many fights and enemies like Mickey Maguire, a superhuman killing machine that went on a murder spree in Canada then he would take on the Devil's First Born son, Antony Valor which would lead through the Gates Of Hell where he would fight legendary slashers and a horde of undead just to get to him because of the events in the Violent One's story. He would be victorious in that fight but he would have to fight Valor's father, Lucifer which would be the ultimate fight of his life.

Territory
We had delayed this meeting for long enough. Once a year, there was a get-together of all the concerned parties to discuss what was to be done with this bare patch of astral space. Recently, there were intrusions from mankind, but we were still in charge. We would decide what to do with our special place.

Tree Salad
You do not have to be vegan or vegetarian to consume this salad since it is universal, actually only for Earthlings, except for trees. I doubt that they would like this salad since it would be somewhat cannibalistic on their part if they do. We have known the feel, taste, and fill of human meat throughout our history during lean times and when it was believed to contain one’s essence and strength. These facts always amazed me. How ignorant were we? How keen on bloody flesh and licking bones were our not-so-remote ancestors? Brainless cannibals breathed after each bite in the last century, notwithstanding the demented variety who had their freaking minutes of fame. Hannibal Lecter was just the cinematic version. But this recipe is for a tree salad, not a human one. I have no recipe for human flesh, except to kiss, lick, and bite it when in love.

Saint Valentine
"So, I'm thinking that you'd like to live forever, right?" Valentine had been startled out of his skin, when the angel appeared, minding his own business, thinking about love. He was a loving sort of man. A man who loved God. A man who loved marriage. A man who loved Love. It was a great thing and should be treated as such, as should all the associated Love attributes: respect, trust, companionship to name a couple.
