Tales (Masie Adams). Top Story - May 2026.
Now you know I’m not one to tell tales, but you would not believe what I saw at the Piggly Wiggly this morning. Yes ma’am, I am telling you the gospel truth and no lies. It was Masie Adams, back in town from who knows where, and let me tell you, she was a sight. Thank goodness her mama passed before she lived to see her daughter all trolloped up like a truck stop hooker in broad daylight. It couldn’t’ve been past ten in the morning, and she was wearing these sky-high stripper heels, no pantyhose, and a dress that like to been painted on her, cut down to here and up to there. And if she had a slick of lipstick on, she had the entire Estee Lauder counter on her face. That brassy hair was teased up higher than a nine-neck giraffe, and all she had in her cart was eggs, butter, and beer. It just goes to show . . . and she comes from such good people. I reckon Mary Elizabeth’s going to have to lock up her husband. He never could stay away from Masie.

The Drunkard and the Patron. Content Warning.
“I’m so drunk,” the drunkard finally said. He had downed his fifth whiskey on the rocks and had been rambling about something ever since the third. Most people ignored him. Others occasionally nodded their heads, pretending to listen. It was the only way they could relieve themselves of the pain of listening to some kid who turned 21 the other day, and finally discovered that he can walk into a bar and order as many drinks possible.

The Last Mirror . AI-Generated.
The morning they switched off the last mirror, Elara didn't notice. She stood in her kitchen, waiting for her coffee to brew, staring at the blank wall where a reflection used to live. The MirrorBan had passed three weeks ago. The government said it was for mental health. The researchers said self-reflection caused anxiety loops. The AI said humans were happier without seeing themselves.

Spineless spine. Top Story - May 2026.
I don’t know how, and I don’t know when, but I’ve pinched something in my spine, and now I can’t sleep. I’m lying here at seven in the morning after a night shift, and my spine burns and pulses. It wants out. I rolled to the other side, and it picked up the pace. Now it pulses, burns, and cracks. It doesn’t like me. It doesn’t want to be with me. It wants to leave.
