Blossoms Besotted
The wisteria tree nestled into the western shade of a grove left long untended, was laden heavily with the works of spring, ripened during those fine, clear and warmly spent hours beneath promising blue skies the season used dotingly, lavishly, lovingly.

Among the Silent Trees
Gentle rain fell with a sound like tinkling bells to the ears of the hermit. He had learned to hear the music of the woods when he was a boy, though when exactly he had gone from boy to man was lost to him now. In a way, and after a fashion, the trees would speak to him sometimes. Not in the language of his parents, no. Those words and meanings were all but lost to him now, rather in a secret way he had learned… now when had he learned it?

We Remember. Runner-Up in Whispering Woods Challenge. Top Story - March 2024.
She is uneasy. I can smell it. The grey one is talking to her softly in the shrinking light. We will move soon, not away from the strange trees, but into them. This seems bad to me. They are older than the other trees and smell angry and strong. There is ample food, clean and rapid water, and there is a friendly bitch in a hut close to the ravine I would like to get to know. Power of Friendship
“Your friends aren’t yours” the cold voice declares. The eldritch man sneered and circled me to block me from standing with those I trusted. I attempted to look into the eyes of the friends I had many adventures with, but they refused to share a single glimpse. I felt my heart turn cold as I realized the man wasn’t lying and my breath shuttered with tinges of fear.

Haven
To everyone else on the farm, she looked like a single oak. She was the type of tree my Daddy called a climbing tree. She grew alongside what my eight-year-old mind believed to be a magical lake. It was only a pond, but for a child, there is little difference between a pond and a lake. The real difference was in what made the lake magical. That would be the silver mist that occasionally covered it. Because the mist only appeared when something extraordinary was about to happen. When the silver mist came, mystical and wondrous events were not far behind.
