The Last of the Dreigiau
There weren’t always dragons in the Valley… Dragons used to live in a lot of other places, too. The hills and mountains; the swamps and plains. In all different shapes and sizes, dazzling in their variety of color. At least, that’s what I’ve been told. I’ve only seen one dragon in my short life.; the only one that’s been seen outside of the Valley in 12 years. I thought it was the most beautiful creature I’d ever witnessed. My father thought so too, but only after it had come crashing down to the earth with several ballista bolts in its chest. You see, for some reason that no one has been able to adequately explain to me, we went to war with the dragons. Well, my father and the other clan leaders call it war. I call it extermination and genocide.

Scorched Valley
There weren’t always dragons in the Valley. I can still remember the stories my mother told us about the lush village she grew up in before the first attack. My sister would always beg for her to tell us a new one, the tales usually just mundane memories that Sage would use to create scenarios in the games of pretend we played.

They Turned Us Into Dragons
There weren't always dragons in the Valley. Some debate it, but it’s generally accepted that Maggie and I discovered the first one in the Valley de Los Viejos Bar, also known as the Valley. We were never supposed to be there that day but it was Maggie’s birthday, and she had a thing for the Valley and a thing for drinking. We skipped work and walked in with the glow of the beautiful spring day behind us and found ourselves waiting for Bob the bartender... when I caught a golden flash coming from a side-glimpse of the stranger sitting next to us.

Vindicta Draconis
There weren't always dragons in the valley. No, if there was something that The Valley had always been, it was exclusive. An establishment that had been run by the same family and associates for over a decade. The characters entering and leaving The Valley all did so with a specific purpose. As to what that purpose might be? Night clubs like this were usually a cover for something. Money laundering, prostitution, drug cartels. Clichés of illegality. But The Valley was different. Entertainment was flashy, extravagant and yes at times smutty or scandalous. Powerful people entered through those doors. Politicians, dignitaries, people who pulled the strings in one way or another. But as far as anyone could prove, it was just a nightclub.

The Clawpeak Conspiracy
There weren’t always dragons in the valley. The villagers of Fellstead weren’t always prey. But ever since the mountains had revealed a glimmer of the riches beneath their cold rock, everything had changed for those unfortunate enough to live in the shadow of the Clawpeaks. For all their power and pyrotechnics, the dragons could not stem the onslaught of treasure hunters swarming the highlands and disturbing their nests, and so the great wyrms had abandoned their ancient home and descended east in search of new caves and fresh meat.

In the Wayward Mountains
There weren't always dragons in the Valley. Appa Si swayed in the saddle astride an equus as the odd-toed hoofs of their mount unsteadily scaled the stone- and grass-flecked side of a low rise in the southern cascade of the Wayward Mountains. The equus, a hired mare named Nan Tilly and well past her prime, struggled against the broken ground beneath her, diligent in her duty but failing in the strength of her limbs. The sluggish climb to vault the folds of the Mountains wore on their patience, knowing the speed flighty temperament of their prey.

The Queen's Valley
There weren’t always dragons in the Valley. A long time ago in a world only remembered in the literature of the scholar’s, people were kind and helped one another. Now however, it was common to find beasts that hoarded their riches despite the suffering of others. This is what brought the downfall of the planet. The rapacity of the drak, beings willing to kill anyone who dared to set foot near their wealth, no matter how hungry or desperate the victim. Those who would destroy forests and oceans to gain wealth in their one lifetime and damn all those to come after them.

CW: Scene of death and blood Part Three of Ersoa’s Awakening There weren’t always dragons in the Valley. The Valley wasn’t always burning, and the skies weren’t always hazed with ember clouds. The days didn’t always feel as long and hopeless as this one — the day of the firestorm, the unexpected surfacing of buried history.

Born of The Crone
There weren’t always dragons in the Valley. Most didn't remember a time before the scorched earth, but a few town historians recalled the legend of when the first of the vicious beasts arrived. They loved to tell the story of the old crone and the devil she brought to rescue herself...

The Dragons of Mahria Valley
Prologue There weren't always dragons in the valley. When there were, the inhabitants of Mahria slept soundly. They left their homes in the evenings, walked freely around the markets. Weapons gathered dust on the walls, laughter filled the air. It was a time of peace, tranquillity.

Back to Glenn
“There weren’t always dragons in the Valley… long ago—” “What a load of rubbish,” James whispered. He was sitting in the back of the crowd, his arms folded across his chest as the storyteller proceeded, the beginnings of a sunburn starting to peak across his freckly skin.
