The Valley Of Dragons
“There weren't always dragons in the valley, and they weren't always called dragons. They didn't choose the name the blood beings gave to them. They were Seraphic-godlike, astounding, intellectual, humane, and beautiful. Decades have come and gone since anyone has come in contact with a dragon and lived to tell the tale until today—June 6th, 5024; I'm B.D, your sincere journalist unveiling our local news. Behind me are three deceased dragon beings. How could this be? Why? And who's to blame-cut!” Beatrice Davitch, a law enforcement nuisance, and her trusty ostrich height cameraman, Navi, could smell a story a mile away. Navi needed to “stop whining and hold the camera straight!” He's the type to avoid conflicts, but his fingers had swelled like sausages in his gloves, and his eyes began to freeze shut. They were 20 feet from the deceased, the police cars, and the emergency vehicles, barely able to make out the yellow tape, politely bickering in the middle of nowhere; A car passed them, pulling up to the furthest part of the scene.

The Heartless Empire
Chapter One “There weren’t always dragons in the valley.” I could hear Nanna’s harsh voice in my head as I lay perfectly still in the bed of the wagon, clutching Marta’s hand for dear life. “There was once peace throughout our world. Magic existed only in the House of the Divine, on the far side of the world, where young women were sent to learn craft.

Winged Wrath
There weren’t always dragons in the valley. Her wrath and sorrow summoned them from the depths of the darkest realms. Nightmarish winged beasts that circled the kingdom and outlying village. Listening for her cry, her whisper of command, or the mere sight of the flames flicking at her finger tips. It was the dragon blood that ran through her veins burning with ancient magic and fury. Retreating into the darkest parts of her soul, she sought out the alchemy to conjure these creatures. Awakening them from centuries long slumber as their new mistress to bring her darkest desires of revenge raining down on the guilty and ignorantly innocent alike.

Impossible Journey
There weren’t always dragons in the valley. They had just entered the Valley after thousands of years of being in hiding, yet still I am drunk and ready to die. Sitting on a beer stained couch next to some belligerent college guy trying to feel me up is when this revelation hits me. He doesn’t know I am only seventeen. My coworker, Jessica, who I would barely call my friend dragged me out to this party and ditched me the second she saw her latest hookup. I didn’t really care. In fact, I didn’t really care about anything anymore.

Altrex
“There weren’t always Dragons in the Valley.” The Graybeard announced to the attendees of the ceremony. Altrex sat next to an empty seat, a seat formerly occupied by his closest friend and most trusted comrade. A comrade who would be recognized at this ceremony in the Alabaster Tower of Xanthir. The Alabaster Towers acted as places of historical maintenance as well as spiritual leadership across the land of Myln. The Graybeards were the caretakers of these cream-colored, decorative towers. This Graybeard, Onruk of Xanthir, had been raised from a child to occupy the high station of Graybeard. His simple gray robes adorned with only a thin silver belt at his waist. Funnily enough, his sternum length beard was white.

Road's End
“There weren't always dragons in the valley; and there hasn't always been magic in this land, not after the Empire came and establish itself to the west. Not so long ago this valley.” Rin waved across the whole of the beginning of Lirg's Valley, “was a desolated end creating a shadowy gate to the Lirg's Mountains. Mountains so high and rough, only the rock creatures could make a home there. And many of them didn't exist either due to the ravage of Lirg's destruction.” Rin's voice boomed belying his size. He is a short barrel of a being, one of the Asissh. He had started out life as a farmer in the land right surrounding the Spine Mountains. Rin had seen what Lirg's Valley had looked like before the dragons had come to stay and bring back the magic. Rin was now something a bit more now, something a bit more than a storyteller. Rin continued with his statement, pointing to behind the younglings back.

Slayer Search
There weren’t always dragons in the Valley. And there wasn’t always a slayer that could end their reign of terror. Louisa stared at the tagline for FAE Network’s newest reality show Slayer Search and wondered just what she’d been thinking when she agreed to be one of the twelve contestants who were going to risk their lives competing for a prize of one million crystals. Of course, when she originally filled out the application and sent in an audition tape, she was responding to a casting call asking for “twenty-somethings who want to travel across the southern lands and win money - all magical beings welcome.” And as a witch who was preparing to graduate with a potions degree in an already saturated market, she figured she wasn’t in any position to ignore an opportunity to earn some extra income during the last summer break of her college career. But she certainly wouldn’t have wasted her time going to group interviews with trolls and centaurs if she’d known they were going to travel to the legendary Valley between the Southern Mountains to challenge the most dangerous creatures in all of Druia.

Talons and Tempest Seas
There weren't always dragons in the Valley. The tempest seas changed that; volatile storms that washed a trio of peculiar rocks ashore two years ago during the final days of the storm season. In my sixteen years, I’d never entirely had a fondness for strange baubles, but something about the uniformed, textured rocks half-buried in the sand had snagged my interest enough I hadn’t thought twice about pocketing them and bringing them home.
