The Dragon Sanctuary
There weren't always dragons in the Valley. Auryon and her family used to live on the lofty peaks of the Mountain Veil and migrate every fall to the Ceratos islands in the southeast. But that all changed the day the Watchers arrived on The Fringe.

Brimstone
PROLOGUE: THE WISP FROM THE WRECKAGE “There weren’t always dragons in the Valley.” Nurse Ka paused, as if suppressing this realization or perhaps holding back a question. She looked down at the small, wordless child she had pulled from the rubble earlier that day. Her arms and legs were covered in bandages that Ka had lovingly applied as the right side of the willowy little body was completely burnt – rough and black as coal. What continued to captivate her were the strange opalescent eyes that held her gaze like giant pearls beneath a crystal surf. Somehow her eyes had been spared from the flames, along with her left cheek. It was the mystical glow of these eyes that had drawn her to the child hidden in debris in the first place. They had peered outward from the wreckage like moons from a distant planet spilling silver light on her oddly beautiful little face and deep into Ka’s soul.

The Dracori Prophecy
The Dracori Prophecy: Faeryvale There weren’t always dragons in the Valley. They had been consigned to ancient myths, legends, and superstitions for over fifteen hundred years – any truths about them had long been forgotten. No one knew why they had disappeared; no one knew why they chose to return a one hundred and fifty years ago. By the time I was born, it was as if they had never left, and life went on.

A Serpent's Salvation
There weren't always dragons in the Valley. However, over the past two years post rebellion, their sightings are becoming alarmingly more common. I’ve never seen one myself but the few stories hunters and merchants brought back to my village sent chills down my spine. They recounted magnificent tales of the impressive creature’s size and firebreathing abilities, as well as the path of destruction often left in their wake. Entire villages were demolished, burnt to the ground, most of the inhabitants perishing in the fires or by the talons and teeth of the serpent itself. Children and adults alike seldom left their towns for fear of running into the creatures in the wilderness where they roamed. As a little girl, I never had to worry about encountering the terrifying beasts, even though our farmland lay fairly close to the Valley’s border. But now, either because of habitat loss caused by the uprising, or the king corralling them himself, everyone needed to stay alert.
