Treasure Squandered
“Wain, wain, doe away, tum adain anuva day.” The words, high in pitch but soft, traveling low over the wet leaves to reach her, roused Yllphaeth from her brooding. Even as she considered the strange language – human, she thought, but not certain the tongue – she instinctively drew back into the stand of pines she’d been pacing, looking for deersign. Her tail twitched and her senses sharpened into the shining point of her best defense – avoiding detection.

The Legend of George
“The Lord Christ has truly blessed us this day”, George screamed as he faced the Dragon. Fatima approached the huge reptile, it's claws scratching at the sand between them. The stench of Carob trees encircled the clearing, as Canus whispered to another of the four Romans following behind “When did we reach the gates of hell.” Beyond the clearing, the town’s torches were being lit.

Princess Gianna and the Three Legged Dragon
They called me Three-Leg Runt, or if they were being kind, Stumpy. Dragons are not maternal creatures, so if I had another name given by my mother, I wouldn’t know it. I only know the names that were yelled at me as I scrounged for food in the streets of Ilarius, the capital city.

Saccades
In spoken Romancy, the word "dragon" in its most literal definitions, means "non-living", or "un-alive". This was a fact that somewhat perplexed Iris, as she didn't recall feeling particularly "un-alive". As far as she was concerned, she was more alive than anyone. Especially, she was more alive than the little mortal things that defined her that way. The peoples of Roma, always so quick and desperate to define. Everything always had to be dangerous, or ancient, or foreign. They loved their definitions, even for the things they didn’t understand. Things like Iris. She was older than them, stranger than them too. A piece of the old world itself. But the peoples of Roma had their ways and Iris had hers. She was not one of them, of course. She was, as they say, a dragon; one of only four. Moreover, she was the oldest dragon, the first one. That made her the oldest thing of all things. However the little mortals chose to define her, that was their business. She knew what she was, and she knew her mission. She was blessed with it, burdened with it, even before her first moment in this world. Those misguided mortal things that so misunderstood her were actually under her sworn protection. Yes, that was her mission. They were her mission. Her blessing and her burden. She was created, just like her sister and two brothers, to cradle and protect mortal life. A weighty design to be sure, but one she was more than capable of fulfilling. She had a purpose. It was something she carried in her bosom with pride, even if the little people on the ground didn’t know it. It was enough for her to know.

Conquered with a Boy
The sun was peeking over the horizon now. I could see 5 deer out in the clearing and I only needed one to last me the fortnight. I knew I had to be quick with my arrow as I wasn't the only one hunting. That's when I heard it. It's been many years since I've heard that sound. The distinct cries of a child who couldn't be more than 3. I wasn't the only one who heard it either. The handful of deer took off into the trees. I knew that if we all heard it then they did too.

A Dragon's Gem
A full moon shone in the sky above, and the woods laid in a peaceful silence. Creatures of the night scurried about, searching for prey or a place to hide. Any noise lasted only a moment, even the large whoosh of wind from above the trees didn’t last long. These large gusts came from the large and leathery wings of a dragon. His body a crimson red, and his scales seemed to shine like rubies when bathed in the moonlight. He flew over the trees towards the towering mountains, a bundle of cloth hanging from his neck.
